Canadian Buffoon's Hi Low Vacation - South Central Musings

So sorry to see you hurt your back. I hope today is better. At least it happened after your trip.

Silver lining I suppose.
It's gonna be a while
before I'm able to move freely.
But yesterday was better than
the day before...
And hopefully today will be
better than yesterday.

Changed my answer!
Noted! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: She does that!?!?!?
::yes:: ALL THE TIME! ::yes:: Clearly, social boundaries are still a work in progress. :rotfl:

That was cool!
I know right?!

Me too!
Loved how he corrected the time
with a penny.

I used to have to set the clock
when I worked in Lynn Lake, MB.
(Don't know if she knows maps yet,
but you could show her.)

Clocks have to be accurate in aviation,
so it was a daily task.

We would tune into a high frequency
station that would broadcast
the exact Greenwich mean time.
Neat! And yeah correcting the time with something as fine tuned as a penny pretty cool.

 Well, why not!
But... winding for an hour and a half!
I bet they have very strong arms.

That's what Nana's are for.
"I wound her up, now she's all yours!"
::yes:: Pretty much!

Happy Anniversary!
What's your exact date? October.....?
14th And thank you!

Kay did something like that recently.
And yup. Good lesson.
:rotfl2: At least I'm not the only one screwing up that way. :rotfl:

This is awesome. Love it!

Anyone else notice the spoon?

I feel that writing about that first day,
the trials and tribulations of merely
getting to Disney World,
sets the tone for the entire TR.
And it's my style.
::yes::

Soak it in, people.

Ahhhhhhh....

But not this time.
I wasn't feeling it.
I wasn't feeling much of anything.

Actually... I was...

Wishing I hadn't come.
Shut the front door!

Say what?????

I hadn't realized just how bad
it had gotten until just then.
I couldn't put my finger
on why I wasn't happy,
but when it did happen,
it was like the proverbial
weight had lifted off my shoulders.
Dang... you really did need this trip.

I said "Yes", so she did.
<pointing vaguely>
"That one. And that one. And that one."

Yup. Just like on the ride.
Perfect!
Perfect!

It did feel a little weird at sucking
up Dr. Slush's balls though.
But I soon got used to it.

On the list of things I never thought I'd say...
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I mean really.
Donning plastic raiment
or throwing one's hands in the air.
Women and children...
and men, too!...
screaming, of all things.

One should sit back and relax.
Perhaps with a nice glass of wine,
or a good book.
Preferably both.

I just don't understand people sometimes.

Yes, yes.
I know.
Enough idle chit-chat.
Photos please.

As you wish.

Well done. I've seen a lot of good Splash Mountain photos over the years. This isn't one of them.

This one is awesome!

I must admit though,
the ride didn't start off too great.
Knowing one of my favourite rides, BTMRR,
was down for refurb was bad enough.
But to see it with scaffolding all over it?

Depressing.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

But if you guessed I had a FP for it,
then I'm afraid you're wrong.
:sad2:

Ahhhhh.... Best. Ride. Ever.
I thought you just said BTMRR had scaffolding all over it?

So every time I see it,
it brings me right back to that day
in front of the (black and white) TV
Damn, you're old.

(Did you notice the water bottle?
What kind of jerk tosses a water bottle
while riding Peter Pan???)
I thought it was supposed to be a message in a bottle or something. :rolleyes1

We began to see people leaving.
"Sorry folks! Ride's closed!
Mouse outside should've told you."
:thumbsup2

Is it just me?
Or does Goofy's eye creep you out?
And were you so focused on that,
that you failed to see Minnie?
Or Mickey?
Bonus points if you tell me.
Yeah, I didn't notice any of them. I just noticed the pretty lights. Until you pointed them out.

I left the camera in the bag and just
relaxed and enjoyed the ride.
And did I miss it?
Or did they remove (or cover)
the pirate with the overly hairy leg?
(The one sitting on the bridge
that you go under.)
I was watching for him, but... :confused3
It was there last time I rode it... :confused3

By now I figured it might be late enough
to catch a ride on 7DMT.
But a posted wait time of 30 minutes
dissuaded me.
I'll do 20, but no more.
Unless it's one of my top favourite rides.
And 7DMT ain't one of them.

I sashayed down past the Speedway
and eventually found myself
in front of Space Mountain.
Posted wait time of 20 minutes.
I got in line.
The wait turned out to be pretty close
at 15 minutes.
Hmm... sounds like the same thought process I went through.

And while I was perhaps a tad tired,
I was also pleased that I'd made
the most out of my abbreviated MK day.
::yes:: You really did! Aside from the failed attempt to photograph Wishes. But then again, you did get to see most of Wishes so it wasn't a total loss.

Huh. There's one from Disney
saying I could ride 7DMT
anytime I wanted... yesterday.
Yup. The nice thing about FP+. Too bad you didn't know about it before you left the park. :headache:

1. Well, I may have been awake
a fair bit recently. Do I sleep in?
You're in Disney! Hell no!

2. What time do I wake up?
7:00

3. Which park am I first off to today?
Hollywood Studios

4. It's a multi park day!
How many times do I visit the nice folks
at bag check? (Yes, I had a bag to check.)

5. How many times am I asked for directions?
I'll make it easy on you.
0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 times?

6. What time do I get to my room
at the end of the day this time?

7. I use a new method of getting

Your feet

8. As a matter of fact I do have an ADR.
Two as a matter of fact.
Guess the one that’s not in any park or in Springs.
Beaches & Cream

9. What wild animal do I see today?
(On the way to that ADR.)
Duck

Bonus: Did you see it?
Be specifically vague.
Now offering non-stop flights to the American frontier.

Ahhhhhhh....

::yes::

Shut the front door!

Say what?????

Yeah, I know.
I hardly believe it myself...

Maybe I should go back!

Dang... you really did need this trip.

You know what?
Kidding aside?
I really did.

I know, right?
And now you want to try it, don't you?

:rolleyes1

Yeah. I knew about it,
but it didn't make it any better.

I thought you just said BTMRR had scaffolding all over it?

Nope. HM is the best ride in WDW.

Damn, you're old.

What's that sonny?

I thought it was supposed to be a message in a bottle or something. :rolleyes1

It was.
And the message was
"Throw your crap out in a bin, moron."

Yeah, I didn't notice any of them. I just noticed the pretty lights. Until you pointed them out.

It helps when you're checking
to see if it's in focus... :rolleyes1

It was there last time I rode it... :confused3

Are you sure?

Hmm... sounds like the same thought process I went through.

::yes:: You really did! Aside from the failed attempt to photograph Wishes. But then again, you did get to see most of Wishes so it wasn't a total loss.

Except Wishes was pretty much
the main reason why I brought
the stupid tripod all the way
from Winnipeg.

Okay... what the heck are "croakies"???

These are Croakies. I believe they were originally design for doing stuff like white water rafting (which is also why I originally bought mine). But, they also work for roller coasters. :) Ok, so looking at the "Our Story" tab, they were originally for "all kinds of alpine adventures." Which could include rafting - our trip was actually on the Snake River by Jackson, which is where the company started. Although I first heard of them when rafting in Pennsylvania, many years ago. (Don't go thinking I'm some sort of expert - those were the only 2 trips I've done! The first was with very experienced friends, and the second was with a guide.)

Ah! Ok, now I get it.
My glasses stay on pretty good,
since they're new.
But I totally get it,
based on how bad
my
last glasses were like.

our trip was actually on the Snake River by Jackson, which is where the company started.

Cool!

Although I first heard of them when rafting in Pennsylvania, many years ago. (Don't go thinking I'm some sort of expert - those were the only 2 trips I've done! The first was with very experienced friends, and the second was with a guide.)

That's 2 more trips than I've done!
I'd like to do it,
but with my back.... I may never
get the chance.

Finally caught up with all of your reports! Really enjoyed the "solo trip" and "teen daughter" TRs thus far -- so I'm going to go ahead and bite the bullet and settle in for this one too.

Yes -- I can already hear you saying it to me...so I'll just save you the time...
You: :welcome:.

Me: "Thank you, thank you!"

I do have somewhat mixed feelings about this TR. I have spent about 10 hours over the last three days binge-reading your last three TRs. After having that much entertainment in such a short period, how could I possibly have mixed feelings, you ask?
Well, I am happy to be able to finally participate in the contest. :yay:

However, now I have to WAIT to see what happens next. And waiting is just no fun.

So let's hurry this up a bit, ok? I can't possibly be inconvenienced.
:earboy2:

On an unrelated note, I must tell you, you were very fortunate in your bus times thus far -- the last trip we took in Feb. 2016, we probably averaged 15 minutes a wait (I think we waited one morning for 35 minutes to catch a bus to the MK). I know one night it took us about 90 minutes to go from Port Orleans to Grand Floridian for dinner (long wait for bus ride and then the Monorail stopped working). Let me just say that waiting long stretches for buses is not ideal with a 6 month old and an almost 3 year old. They would fall asleep in the stroller waiting for the bus -- then we'd have to wake them up and hold them. Did that for 3 days and then the last 4 days we were at VGF -- so much nicer just wheeling them onto the monorail and letting them sleep the whole ride home at the end of a long day. Luckily no more monorail issues during that part of the stay.

Now to the contest...

1. Well, I may have been awake
a fair bit recently. Do I sleep in?

Sleep in??? -- No way. You're in Disney and it's only day 2!

2. What time do I wake up?
6:45 am

3. Which park am I first off to today? Animal Kingdom -- although based on question #8 -- I'm thinking you might start off at Epcot and then walk to DHS, and then go to AKV for dinner.

4. It's a multi park day!
How many times do I visit the nice folks
at bag check? (Yes, I had a bag to check.) Three times -- Animal Kingdom, DHS, and then Epcot for dinner/illuminations.

5. How many times am I asked for directions?
I'll make it easy on you.
0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 times? -- 3 times

6. What time do I get to my room
at the end of the day this time? -- Midnight

7. I use a new method of getting
from one park to another. What is it?
(I've used bus, boat and monorail in the past.) -- You walk from DHS to epcot or vice versa.

8. As a matter of fact I do have an ADR.
Two as a matter of fact.
Guess the one that’s not in any park or in Springs. Boma or Sanaa?

9. What wild animal do I see today?
(On the way to that ADR.) Would a zebra in the Savannah count as a wild animal? If not, then I'll guess an alligator while you're walking between epcot/DHS.

Bonus: Did you see it?
Be specifically vague.

yeah I saw it. It was right over there (pointing indiscriminately)!

I
really need to fix those links...

Hah! You're not getting off that easy!

You get an official :welcome: to the TR!

I do have somewhat mixed feelings about this TR. I have spent about 10 hours over the last three days binge-reading your last three TRs.

Holy crap!!! :faint:

After having that much entertainment in such a short period, how could I possibly have mixed feelings, you ask?

You're right.
I would expect only one feeling.
Like you're going to be sick, right?

Well, I am happy to be able to finally participate in the contest. :yay:

Sure! It's not too late
if you do well.

However, now I have to WAIT to see what happens next. And waiting is just no fun.

Nope.
That's not gonna do it.
Less "vague" and more
"specific".

Still time to fix that, though.

I received notice that reading
about it was a complete
waste of time.

What???? That's just plain rude. No respect

Made even better when a Monorail
passed by directly overhead.

:goodvibes Gotta love the first monorail sighting

But not this time.

Oh my.

:hyper:

Did you notice the water bottle?

It was still here when I was there!

We were told that the ride was down.
No clear time on when it would be back.
We could wait or go back to the FP entrance

Ugh, 7DMT seems to have an affinity for breaking down

Be specifically vague.

I could use a good "getaway"

I truly thought about skipping it,
or at the very least, paring it down
to just a few words.
Perhaps a sentence or two.

But that's just not me.

You have to go with your gut. That's what people want truth. And maybe some exploding helicopters.

After a seven minute wait for the bus,
(Seven minutes! Seven! What gives, Disney?)

I still think you're spoiled!

But there are rules.
Disney guidelines state
that tripods must fit
inside a standard backpack.
And a standard backpack
may not exceed 24" in length.

Hmmm, I will have to measure my Tripod

I had an ADR coming up at 4:50
and I had a FP that I didn't want to miss
from 4:25 - 5:25.

Dilemmas, dilemmas....

I must admit to feeling some trepidation
when I posted the previous chapter.

I essentially wrote about nothing
except my day spent in airports.
Then I left you all figuratively
standing with me at the bus stop.

Just wait for my next update, you don't even get to WDW!

I truly thought about skipping it,
or at the very least, paring it down
to just a few words.
Perhaps a sentence or two.

But that's just not me.

I get that, which is why I wrote about my Day 0.

I feel that writing about that first day,
the trials and tribulations of merely
getting to Disney World,
sets the tone for the entire TR.

Exactly.

After a seven minute wait for the bus,
(Seven minutes! Seven! What gives, Disney?)

Well I guess for you this is an outrage. I don't keep track because it's note nearly that good.

Normally, I don't worry about bag check.
I'm never bringing in anything that
I'm not supposed to bring.

I never do either, but I certainly end up spending time explaining stuff that doesn't need to be.

As for my backpack,
they only gave it a cursory look.
It almost seemed as if
they started to look... but gave up.

I guess they have given up on the militant searches that I saw back in December. I didn't have any trouble today, but I was very forthcoming with my camera bag, purse and bag on the back of my scooter.

I could have used it,
but I wanted my tripod for the park,
and it was in the checked bag.
Of course I also needed....

Duh, duh, dun.....

I decided to go to the ADR first,
and see if they could get me in early.
If not, hopefully I could eat quickly
and still make the FP.

Good Call.

Actually... I was...

Wishing I hadn't come.

I sort of understand the feeling....

No. Not because I'd been essentially
awake for Gawd knows how long.
It was shift after shift after shift at work.
It was working until I couldn't work anymore,
and then working some more.
It was working 32 hours out of every 40.
Repeatedly.

I can't even imagine this amount of work. I am so over this.

I really needed this vacation.
I needed....

Disney.

Well, duh!

Here. Look at more pictures.

Well thanks!

Free water!
It was hot, so I may have imbibed.

Of course you would!

The soup was good and not overly spicy,

I love me some Hot and Sour soup! I'm sad that I have no plans to dine here soon.

It did feel a little weird at sucking
up Dr. Slush's balls though.
But I soon got used to it.

Looks good?
It was.

::yes::

"Is the soup, souper?"
Playing along, I told her
it was a little soupy.
Funny thing was,
she actually looked concerned
until she looked at me
and realized I was joking.

Is there any better feeling in the World
then walking by hundreds of
sweating, tired guests
as they stand in an unmoving line?

I don't know. I've never gloated on behalf of others. :confused3

Yes, yes.
I know.
Enough idle chit-chat.
Photos please.

As you wish.

OK lets see it.

One should always try
to maintain a certain
sense of style.

Wow! You go all out dude!

By the time I'd gotten dressed,
poured my 'wine'
(In fact, punch from a juice box.
No sense getting thrown out so soon.)
and retrieved my book,
I was already heading up the hill
before the drop.
I just made it.

OK, that's a lot of work for one photo! I'm even more impressed!

I had two separate instances of men
saluting me with their drinks.
I toasted them back in return.
I felt like royalty.
Or upper crust, at the very least.

And you should, at least dressed like that...

I must admit though,
the ride didn't start off too great.
Knowing one of my favourite rides, BTMRR,
was down for refurb was bad enough.
But to see it with scaffolding all over it?

Depressing.

But if they make it like its counterpart in CA, it will be sooooooo much better!

As the train pulled away,
I stuck my tongue out and shouted
"Nyah! Nyah!" at them.
I think they appreciated the gesture.
As a matter of fact, several waved at me
with at least one finger in the air.
Nice people.

How sweet of them!

I pretty much never FP HM.
I will once my original FPs
are used up, if there's one available.
But it's too fast a loading ride
for me to worry about it.
Yes, there can be lines,
but usually, I don't have any issues.

I can see that, plus the queue is so much fun to go through.

Moments later, I was in my doom buggy.

Ahhhhh.... Best. Ride. Ever.

Totally. How did you get that shot?????

Just the best.
And there's this too:

And that.

Ah. Got it.
Bob Dole.
I knew it was one of those.

Anyway, got one of Bob Dole's treats.

Well, I'm glad you got the one you wanted.

We began to see people leaving.
"Sorry folks! Ride's closed!
Mouse outside should've told you."

Bummer. They did the same thing to me on EE last spring.

My tripod has a ball head on it
that connects to a quick release plate
that attaches to the bottom of the camera.
The plate that I, in my haste,
had left in the room.
The plate that, without which,
renders the tripod unusable.

Swell.

Ugh.

Well, maybe I can find some other place.

I did manage to take one shot however.
But I couldn't stay there;
don't remember why not.

Dang people who stake out their spot early!

At least I assume Wishes started.
I heard music.
I heard booming, fireworks-like sounds...
But I sure didn't see anything!

Stupid CM!
Why didn't he say:
"No! Seriously! You won't see it!"

Wow! I had no idea that they did that.

So, what I'm saying is...
No Wishes photos, sorry.
But then again,
how many of those have you seen?
2? 3?.... thousand?
Learn to live with disappointment.

Oh believe me. I've learned to live with disappointment.

Normally I skip the parades and do rides.
The crowds for the rides are smaller
since most everyone's watching the parade.

I know! That was always my MO! Until just recently!

I took a shot of my location to pass the time.

You know it reminds me of a Southwest Airlines radio commercial that they play in the US, "I wanna get away, I wanna get away-ay-ay, I wanna get away, I wanna fly-awayeyayay, ya-ya-ya..."

I made up for my lack of Wishes photos
by taking an embarrassing amount
of MSEP pictures.
Which means now you have to suffer
through them.
Sucks. But it's my TR.
So there you go.

How did you get such great pictures, a filter, what kind of settings? How did you get rid of the darkness that I am always facing?

Is it just me?
Or does Goofy's eye creep you out?

I didn't even notice it.

And were you so focused on that,
that you failed to see Minnie?
Or Mickey?
Bonus points if you tell me.

Nope. Since I didn't notice Goofy, I just looked at Mickey and Minnie like I always did watching the parade.

Not at the time, because I didn't realize
what had happened,
but when I was editing the shots...

That was hilarious!

Ha! They spelled "Honour" wrong!

Yup, just like we spell favorite, and other words I can't remember right now.

After the ride, I was a little sad.
I think that might be my last time.
It's just too rough on my back.

I had that same revelation in 2010. Houwever, if you were to come to DL in California, you will find a smooth and enjouyable version of the ride that you can go on ouver and ouver again.

How'd I get old?
Just yesterday I was a kid!
Still am at heart,
but the body? Not so much.
I'm filling out a formal complaint.

I know what you mean. I wasn't ould a little while ago, but now I am.

Well, time marches on for bodies
and parks alike.
I don't know how it happened,
but it was midnight now.

And while I was perhaps a tad tired,
I was also pleased that I'd made
the most out of my abbreviated MK day.

It's that whole, how you make it through those 32 hour days, I couldn't do it!

"Don't you talk to yo gramma like that.
You gotta fetch it to ketch it!"

:confused3 I have no idea. I don't get it.

I had never heard that expression before!
But it was brilliant!
My only regret was that my DDs
are too old for me to start using it on them.

Must be a Dad thing. No idea.

I arrived at the stop at 12:22am
and the bus arrived fashionably late
at 12:26am. Four minutes.
It took a while to load,
since there were two people in ECVs
who had to be loaded first.
Eventually the bus started to load,
and yes, those two families
were able to board.
But I wasn't.

See you were being generous.

And really, it wasn't that long.
The next bus showed up at 12:38am.
So my total wait time was 16 minutes.
But if I'd really wanted to,
it would've been 4 minutes.
So I won't hold it against Disney this time.

Well thats good!

A cat? I don't think I've ever seen
a cat at Disney.
I turned to look.
No. Not a cat.
An armadillo.
First one I've ever seen.

I can't believe it was really an armadillo! I saw one once in 1997 on our trip, I was partly being snarky and party I had a psychic vision.

Huh. There's one from Disney
saying I could ride 7DMT
anytime I wanted... yesterday.

I had the same thing when EE went down on my April trip. But I don't think it ever came back up.

Well, I'm movin' on up.....from the East side, to a DE-luxe apartment in the sky-aye.....

1. Well, I may have been awake
a fair bit recently. Do I sleep in?

No, because you are there for a limited time.

2. What time do I wake up?

7:00AM

3. Which park am I first off to today?

4. It's a multi park day!
How many times do I visit the nice folks
at bag check? (Yes, I had a bag to check.)

3 times

5. How many times am I asked for directions?
I'll make it easy on you.
0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 times?

3

6. What time do I get to my room
at the end of the day this time?

11:47PM

7. I use a new method of getting
from one park to another. What is it?
(I've used bus, boat and monorail in the past.)

walking

8. As a matter of fact I do have an ADR.
Two as a matter of fact.
Guess the one that’s not in any park or in Springs.

Beaches and Cream

9. What wild animal do I see today?
(On the way to that ADR.)

Duck

Bonus: Did you see it?
Be specifically vague.

I think I said it earlier, "i wanna get away, I wanna get away-ay-ay-ay, yeah-ah-ah..."

What???? That's just plain rude. No respect

Well, everyone's entitled
to their opinion.

:goodvibes Gotta love the first monorail sighting

And that sound it makes???
Love it.

Oh no! I thought you were going to say "Disney burnout" but it was just life burnout

I'd pretty much had my fill,
by that point.

Looks interesting.

It was. And it was actually
fun to drink, too!

Wow, just wow! You're spectacular

Why, yes. I am.

Oh! You're talking about
the splash photo.

Amazeballs. Well done, sir!

:goodvibes Thanks!

It was still here when I was there!

:sad2:

Ugh, 7DMT seems to have an affinity for breaking down

And why is that?
It's a coaster.
A chain to pull you up
that first hill,
and then gravity.

Striking dwarves.

Noted.

I could use a good "getaway"

Couldn't we all?

You have to go with your gut. That's what people want truth.

Well, I try and do that.

And maybe some exploding helicopters.

I'll try to squeeze some in
for the next update.

I still think you're spoiled!

My parents were overly generous.

Hmmm, I will have to measure my Tripod

If you've brought it in before...
then I wouldn't worry.

Dilemmas, dilemmas....

But not a bad one to have.

Just wait for my next update, you don't even get to WDW!

And that's okay with me.

I get that, which is why I wrote about my Day 0.

::yes::

Kindred spirits.

Well I guess for you this is an outrage. I don't keep track because it's note nearly that good.

Yer darned tootin'
it's an outrage!

7 minutes!!

I never do either, but I certainly end up spending time explaining stuff that doesn't need to be.

Well, that sucks.

I guess they have given up on the militant searches that I saw back in December. I didn't have any trouble today, but I was very forthcoming with my camera bag, purse and bag on the back of my scooter.

No. That's all I'm saying.

Duh, duh, dun.....

Okay, this is hilarious.
I'm not a baseball fan,
but some of my DIS friends
are Cubs fans.

So the Cubs are playing as
I'm reading your comments.

And there's a pause in the game
for some reason or other.
And
at the exact moment I read that...

The organ plays that exact tune.

Good Call.

It worked out, so... yes.

I sort of understand the feeling....

Oh?

I can't even imagine this amount of work. I am so over this.

As am I.

As am I.

Well, duh!

::yes::

I love me some Hot and Sour soup! I'm sad that I have no plans to dine here soon.

But knowing you guys,
you probably have some amazing
culinary experiences booked.

:lmao:

I don't know. I've never gloated on behalf of others. :confused3

How about... in spite of them.
Or... because of them?

Wow! You go all out dude!

If it wasn't for this TR?
Wouldn't happen.

OK, that's a lot of work for one photo! I'm even more impressed!

All for you guys.

And you should, at least dressed like that...

Exactly!
I felt like I was in a movie.

But if they make it like its counterpart in CA, it will be sooooooo much better!

You know,
as much as I wanted that particular
ride to be open...
I never really complain when
rides are down for refurb.
It's because of that constant
maintenance that makes
those rides great.

How sweet of them!

People at Disney can be really friendly!

I can see that, plus the queue is so much fun to go through.

Except most of it was cordoned off...

Totally. How did you get that shot?????

Well, I'm glad you got the one you wanted.

Wouldn't dream of not having one.

Bummer. They did the same thing to me on EE last spring.

Would've been better
if I'd seen it
before
park close.

Dang people who stake out their spot early!

You'd think they'd leave a spot
for a wandering buffoon.

Oh believe me. I've learned to live with disappointment.

I believe you.

I know! That was always my MO! Until just recently!

Now what do you do?

You know it reminds me of a Southwest Airlines radio commercial that they play in the US, "I wanna get away, I wanna get away-ay-ay, I wanna get away, I wanna fly-awayeyayay, ya-ya-ya..."

Sounds like the song by
Lenny Kravitz.

How did you get such great pictures, a filter, what kind of settings? How did you get rid of the darkness that I am always facing?

That's funny.
And here I'm dissatisfied with them.

The darkness comes from the settings
and manipulating the blacks
in RAW and modifiying the curves.

I didn't even notice it.

But now that you have....

Nope. Since I didn't notice Goofy, I just looked at Mickey and Minnie like I always did watching the parade.

So you knew they
were there without looking.

That was hilarious!

It was funny, wasn't it?

Yup, just like we spell favorite, and other words I can't remember right now.

That's okay,
I can provide a list
if you like.

I had that same revelation in 2010. Houwever, if you were to come to DL in California, you will find a smooth and enjouyable version of the ride that you can go on ouver and ouver again.

Maybe some day I'll take yo up on that offer.
I certainly woldn't say no to yor offer of a
VIP tor of DL.

I know what you mean. I wasn't ould a little while ago, but now I am.

Yo're not old. Yo're just a yong chick.

It's that whole, how you make it through those 32 hour days, I couldn't do it!

I will freely admit
that it gets harder
and harder.

:confused3 I have no idea. I don't get it.

Fetch it to ketch it,
I assume refers to
you have to do something
(fetch it)
to "catch it" or get in trouble.
(probably a lickin'.)

See you were being generous.

Nah.
Just doing what anyone would.
Didn't cost me anything.

I can't believe it was really an armadillo! I saw one once in 1997 on our trip, I was partly being snarky and party I had a psychic vision.

Wait. Not following.
You
did see one?
Or you didn't?

Well, at DL I've brought it, but my friend Bret (who is a phenomenal photographer here on the DIS), got turned away a couple weeks ago with his.

No. That's all I'm saying.

Foreshadowing.... :scratchin

Okay, this is hilarious.
I'm not a baseball fan,
but some of my DIS friends

And there's a pause in the game

And
at the exact moment I read that...

The organ plays that exact tune.

That's funny. While I was responding to your update, I was watching the circus, and playing a drinking game. Take a drink every time someone lied. I was pretty tipsy by the time I got to the end of responses!

Day 0

But knowing you guys,
you probably have some amazing
culinary experiences booked.

It's interesting we've booked a mix. I hope I don't burn out on the Fancy Pants stuff before we get to the down to earth eats!

If it wasn't for this TR?
Wouldn't happen.

Well I'm glad you're here to entertain us! I even showed the pic to Fran.

You know,
as much as I wanted that particular
ride to be open...
I never really complain when
rides are down for refurb.
It's because of that constant
maintenance that makes
those rides great.

At DL it was down for like a year. There was a rumor that they put the tracks down upside down and had to redo it. However the ride is so smooth now and the effects are spectacular. Last time I rode it at WDW, I swore it off until after the refurb happened.

ISO 3200

This I understand, and about where I start when riding HM.

50mm on APSC sensor

I read about this on Wikipedia and don't know if my lens has one of these. It's a Sigma 18-255, I'll have to look up details on the computer at some point.

Would've been better
if I'd seen it
before
park close.

True. When it happened to us, we had already rode via single rider.

You'd think they'd leave a spot
for a wandering buffoon.

Or not. :lmao:

Now what do you do?

Actually ever since I got back into photography (2014), I've been watching nighttime parades with a passion.

Sounds like the song by
Lenny Kravitz.

You do realize that was my answer to "do you see it?" And yes they used the Lenny Kravitz song for Southwest Airlines commercials.

The darkness comes from the settings
and manipulating the blacks
in RAW and modifiying the curves.

You shoot in RAW? Fran bought me a giant media card so I could experiment with it, but I just haven't had the time to see how it makes my photos better. I barely have time to remove unwanted people and "stuff" in the backgrounds.

So you knew they
were there without looking.

Considering I've actively watched the parade about five times and photographed it for the last two years. Yes.

It was funny, wasn't it?

::yes:: I'm sure Disney doesn't have a contingency plan for feather dusters.

Maybe some day I'll take yo up on that offer.
I certainly woldn't say no to yor offer of a
VIP tor of DL.

UOK

Fetch it to ketch it,
I assume refers to
you have to do something
(fetch it)
to "catch it" or get in trouble.
(probably a lickin'.)

As good an answer as any.

Wait. Not following.
You
did see one?

OK. Obviously by that point my drinking game was going very well.

Yes when we visited in 1997, I saw one off my balcony at WL.

Or you didn't?

When I said I was being snarky and channeling a psychic vision that had to do with my guess. I had originally said Lizard, but something told me to guess armadillo. Every time I go back, I keep hoping I'll see another one, but I haven't since that time almost 15 years ago.

That's real good Weezy.

And if I'm singing, I was really "happy"!

So just triple checking that includes my answer to "did you see it?"

That's me trying to be specifically vague and not spelling it out for everyone else exactly which picture it is and what it says. Even though it's already been done. Many times.

I let out a little yell and fell over
onto the concrete floor
like a sack of potatoes.
Been there…
At least no one saw it though (except the birds flying overhead)

Heal quickly and may you not have to go through the remedy that my injuries required.

Took me a while to get around to responding to this update.
Almost didn’t, but enough whining; let’s get to it…

I essentially wrote about nothing
Is this not the definition of a TR in the first place?

Once, when I had begun
one of my TRs in
the same manner,
I received notice that reading
about it was a complete
waste of time.
center-of-universe-271x300.jpg

I truly thought about skipping it,
or at the very least, paring it down
to just a few words.
Perhaps a sentence or two.
Does this not defy one of the accepted laws of physics?
(or did you not study law)

After a seven minute wait for the bus,
(Seven minutes! Seven! What gives, Disney?)
Seven? Try twenty-five…
That and the trip back that evening was the last straw.

It may have had to do with my
trying to spot the Disney World airport
that was abandoned in the '80s.
Found myself doing the same thing a couple days later.
That was an interesting bit of history to learn.

Seconds later, we were driving under water,
The bottom side of water…
Or maybe the underbelly or water.

I rented a locker.
Doubt anyone saw that one coming.

Soak it in, people.

DSC03326_zpsskzatoxu.jpg
That… Does. Not. Get. Old.

But not this time.
I wasn't feeling it.
I wasn't feeling much of anything.

Actually... I was...

Wishing I hadn't come.
Whaaaaaa?

Now that’s pretty much how I feel most every other day that I’m conscious; wishing I hadn’t even woken up. But not usually how I feel at Walt’s place.

I hadn't realized just how bad
it had gotten until just then.
I couldn't put my finger
on why I wasn't happy,
but when it did happen,
it was like the proverbial
weight had lifted off my shoulders.

Man it felt good to be back!

I really needed this vacation.
I needed....

Disney.
Now I get it.
Note to self: allow the train of thought to enter the station before boarding

Enough babbling.
I'm boring you to tears.
Not at all…
I’d start up a long dissertation on this, but that –would- cause tears.
(possibly mine)

How should I know?
My hidden cameras
can't read minds, you know.
You need to upgrade to the ones the NSA is using.

Free water!
Wow! Just like South Dakota!

The server came back and she asked if
I wanted her to point out her favourites.
I said "Yes", so she did.
<pointing vaguely>
"That one. And that one. And that one."

Yup. Just like on the ride.
Perfect!
Good to know.
Now I’m certain I need to add this spot to my next trip down there.
Thought about it this time, but I had other plans that needed to take precedent.

If you've ever had bubble tea,
Never heard of it.

It did feel a little weird at sucking
up Dr. Slush's balls though.
At least they weren’t Schweddy Balls

DSC03345_zps5kvpdibx.jpg

Looks good?
You could say that…

"So? How is it safari?"
Well, I can’t say that y’all had Cheetah me, ‘cause you’d know I was Lion.

Is there any better feeling in the World
then walking by hundreds of
sweating, tired guests
as they stand in an unmoving line?
Not much…
The pay back comes when it’s you in the other line

Bravo!
One of the better variations on the theme that I’ve seen.

I felt like royalty.
Or upper crust, at the very least.
Or maybe a crusty upper.

I then sashayed back up Main St.
Annnnnnnd… he’s back!

Always ready to help with the kindling.
Either that or she wanted to bury the hatchet.

Melts my heart.
Melts or cuts?

I had turned right, out of HM instead of left.
Whoops!
It was the magnetic pull of BTMRR
We felt it a lot this time (and the accompanying longing that went with it)

(Did you notice the water bottle?
::yes::

What kind of jerk tosses a water bottle
while riding Peter Pan???)
The same ones that throw half eaten turkey legs in the hedges.

After the ride,
I remembered that I hadn't had dessert
after my meal at Skippers.
Nor any desert.

Well... maybe I sharpened my spoon
into a knife and threatened to stab
anyone who ventured to close.
The only way to properly enjoy the best treat in the park.

I was only interrupted once
by someone wanting to know
where 7DMT was.
I let him live.
It was a close call though.

"Sorry folks! Ride's closed!
Mouse outside should've told you."
Naaaa, the witch chased him off.
She prefers to sow the (apple) seeds of discontent.

I retrieved my tripod and...
uh...
That’s unfortunate.
I hate it when I do stuff like that.

Learn to live with disappointment.
Not a problem.

Is it just me?
Or does Goofy's eye creep you out?
And were you so focused on that,
that you failed to see Minnie?
Or Mickey?
Bonus points if you tell me.
Saw Mickey first; had to look for a moment to find the eye. Minnie was the toughest to find (given the limitations of the monitor I was viewing the images on at the time)

Ha! They spelled "Honour" wrong!
They’ll fix it when the show reopens up at Disney Ontario

I made a bee line for... HM of course.
There was almost no one there
and it was a walk on.
Or walk in...
Sashay in, perhaps?
If you were already a specter then to gild in might be appropriate as well.

And did I miss it?
Or did they remove (or cover)
the pirate with the overly hairy leg?
Pretty sure he was there the a couple days later.

and eventually found myself
in front of Space Mountain…

…I think that might be my last time.
It's just too rough on my back.
I decided to skip several things this time around for similar reasons.
Maybe next time.

How'd I get old?
By surviving
(doing so comes at a price, ya’ know)

"Don't you talk to yo gramma like that.
You gotta fetch it to ketch it!"

I had never heard that expression before!
Me neither, actually.
Sounds like there’s a good bit of Mount’en dialect influencing that one.

Quite advanced for the 1870s
(although I’m sure they still treat the passengers like livestock)

Oh yeah. But then I heard the score on the news this morning. Maybe the Dodgers weren't playing.

I actually couldn't quite believe the score when friends of mine were posting updates on FB! Yes, the Cubs most definitely were playing!
