I thought I read somewhere that a new movie was being made to replace O'Canada. Anyone know if this is true?

Welcome to the Dis Leegraves! I haven't heard this about O'Canada, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. Maybe someone else will know. Anyone?

I heard that as well. I don't mind if they update it as long as they leave the song that's played at the end.

Yes, I heard there are plans to replace it. Apparently, many Canadians are not too pleased with the stereotypical references to Canada (igloo, eskimo, etc). I mean I am Canadian and have never seen an igloo or an eskimo. Many felt that it gives America a wrong view of Canada. Also, it really needs to be updated.
O'Canada has been running since the 1980's and that Canadian Tourism board are unhappy because it shows a dated view of the country.
There was a write up in the Toronto Star about this a few months ago.

I totally understand! My DD and I were just talking about the stereotypes people have about us here in Texas!

I'll agree that the film is very dated and needs updating!!

Heard that there are plans to shoot the winter months of life in Quebec in Boca Raton, FL. Isn't that where everyone goes November-February? :teeth:

I was hoping that song at the end would be the first part they DID replace! It got stuck in my head and was worse than "It's a Small World"! :rotfl:

We didn't see the whole movie - the CM waved us in although the film was already under way. I would be interested in seeing an updated film, without the song! ;)

I agree that the film is dated and needs updated as well. It is beautiful though. I just hope that they put some sort of seating in the theatre. I understand that if you are seated, you may not be able to see the full view of the film but its very difficult for some people (me!) to stand for that movie after walking through WS. If I start in Mexico, I normally skip the Canada film because I don't want to stand through it. Also, I would think its difficult to take a child in there because they become restless and want to play on the bars. I've never tried to do the movie with a child but have seen many restless children while inside.

Isn't there another film that you stand for as well..........China maybe?

I love the wild life scenes, especially the snow geese. Don't take out the Canadian Frontier!!

I personally like the songs from the movie. "Bluebird" and "Canada, my canada" are reasons I go into the 360 theatre. I hope they leave some of the songs in the next version of the film. China's was a good redo, and France could also stand a makeover.
