Can you use a Disney e-giftcard to pay at SIT DOWN restaurants?

Yes. Of course make sure it’s Disney and not a Disney Store merchandise-only gift card. Those are typically given out when returning items to the Disney Store (now almost defunct in terms of retail locations but people do resell these cards and label them Disney all the time). They aren’t in e-format anyway so shouldn’t be a problem.

Hi.
Is there any way when you hand over a card (or your paper electronic card) to a CM and they take it from you to have it guarded against
them/someone else taking the number and using for themselves?

I have a GC and not sure how I can try to avoid this happening. Thank you.

While I understand your concern, (and I mean this with kindness) I really don't think you need to be worried about a CM stealing your giftcard number.

I don't have a physical gift card lol
you can buy one when you get there. Just put $5 on it and add it to disneygiftcard.com and then add your e-gift card. transfer the balance to the physical card.

I personally, keep a few blank giftcards on my disneygiftcard account to swap balances to in case I lose a card.

That's a great tip, and I probably will do that. I just had several e giftcards given to me, and was planning on purchasing more via shop disney, so I didn't have a physical one. I was gonna combine them all anyways, but didn't even think of the fact that they would sell gift cards there!

I'm such a freaking nerd that I buy gift cards that are thematically linked to the trip I'm taking. Aulani trip? Stitch and Moana. Caribbean Beach Resort? Pirate Mickey. Animal Kingdom Lodge? Lion King.

To Guard against theft use your Magic band or room to charge back to the resort if you pay with gift cards go to the front desk where the card does not have to leave your hand or you can see them swipe the card and hand it back to you. If you have to use a gift card at a restaurant there is just trust involved as with handing over your credit card. However theft is tracked and if a lot of theft has one place in common it will be investigated... that however does not mean you will get money back on a gift card it is like cash so never hand over a 500.00 gift card for a 50.00 meal.

Hotel still makes you have a credit card on file to charge against magic band though right? You’re saying pay the charges with the gift card at front desk before they hit the credit card?

I meant Disney Store merch credit which people resell and mis-label Disney all the time. Also they aren’t in e form so OP wouldn’t have to worry but still good to note for people who buy the real cards on resale sites. I edited my post. Thx for flagging.
Oh, no, I was buying a legitimate egift card from The Disney Store

Thank you for this tip. So, I have a credit card on file, however after day two or three or anytime prior to the end of my trip, I can go to the front desk and use my GC to pay down my bill before it is charged to the credit card. Is this correct?

Thank you.

Somewhat. It depends on what type of resort you stay at and how much you've charged. There is a limit to what they let you charge back to the room before running the credit card.

I'm sure this information is out of date but I remember that limit being $500 for value, $1,000 for moderate and $1,500 for deluxe/DVC. On my last trip over NYE I bought me admission in advance and also did several gift cards. I used the balance before checkout the night before. It felt nice when checking out after a week at WDW having a final folio balance of ..... $15. 😁

Thank you both very much for this information. It makes sense and I didn't think about paying off with the card at the front desk.

I'll be staying the first four days in a one bedroom at GFVs and then moving over to a studio at BWVs for the week.
I think I should be okay and will reconfirm when I check in.

Thank you so much!
