Can you upgrade FD?

Sorry, I'm sure that's been asked before, but I'm having trouble finding it. Was wondering if you can update to Deluxe Dining Plan from FD?

My understanding is that you can upgrade the dining plan by paying the difference between the one you are getting for free and the cost of the dining plan you are interested in.

We have done that very thing before. Got the deluxe for about half price.

I upgraded from Quick Service (which was free) to Basic which cost me another $13.00 per day per person.

Dining plan prices for 2011 (the FAQ thread is gone):

Prices are per person, per night (except for the Wine & Dine add on)
Adult prices - age 10 and over (no exceptions)
Child prices - ages 3-9
Children under 3 are not eligible for the dining plan.

Heres the cost factor, for me to upgrade to Basic it was $13.00 per day per person, but to upgrade to Deluxe it would be $44.00 per day per person. The Deluxe did not seem to be worth it for my family. It would add an additional
$868 to my trip. I don't think we will eat another $868 dollars worth of food!

I upgraded from Quick Service (which was free) to Basic which cost me another $13.00 per day per person.

This is what I did as well. Essentially, my family of four is getting TS meals that would run us $100+ each for $52 each. Another way to look at it, I paid $260 to upgrade to TS for 5 days. With CS plan, we would have had to pay $233 (rounded to nearest dollar) OOP for CRT (which, because of our special celebration, I would have been doing). So for $27 more, my family of four is also getting dinner at 1900 Park Fare, Lunch at Yak & Yeti, and Dinner at Ohana. Those meals would normally have cost us around $375 on top of the CRT cost. Not a bad deal.
