Can you top this tip?

I think the best tip I can every impress upon people (especially first time visitors) is:

You will never be able to see/do everything, so don't even try. You will have a much better vacation when you realize that.

I usually get thanked for that one when they return or I get the you were right, we ran ourselves ragged the first half of the trip until we realized we needed to slow down and really enjoy it.

My best tip is to relax and remember that you're on vacation. WDW will be there when you go back--no need to wear your family out by trying to do everything!

I love rope drop, personally, but I've found it's much better to let our teenagers sleep in and meet up with us later.

How about: "book now"

So true! I was just talking to a friend yesterday who in going in January (less than 2 months). It's her first trip and she bought the Deluxe Dining - and hasn't made ANY dining ressies yet. I'm afraid she is going to be very disappointed. I know it's slow season, but the best restaurants/times are still going to be booked.

My favorite tip is "Stay to the left". Most people, being right handed, always move to their right without even thinking about it. Wherever there are multiple lilnes, moving to the left will almost always get you in a shorter line. Entering EPCOT one day, there were lines at all the gates. We walked as far left as we could and found almost nobody going in through the gates all the way on that side. Human nature can be a strange thing.

Interesting. I wonder if the fact that exits are always on the left and entrances are always on the right also explains our tendency to think that the only/best way to get in is to the right? :confused3

Nope, you are right. Arriving at Rope Drop is the best tip ever.

And it's amazing how few people actually do it.

Thank goodness for the late sleepers, bless their sleepy little hearts. :rotfl2:

We went in March and never made it to rope drop and managed to have a great time. I guess it didn't hurt that my sister's family was a Make A Wish family so we didn't have to stand in any lines! LOL

But I don't think we would have had any fun if we had to get up early on our vacation to get to rope drop. Defeats the purpose of a vacation IMO. We might TRY to do 1 or 2 the next time we go but it's not a priority.

My tip though is: Don't buy new sneakers and try to "break them in" at Disney. Bad bad bad idea!

I have only ever made or seen one rope drop..and I have always gotten to ride all the rides I wanted

Best tip..go when it isnt so busy you have to worry about rope drop and racing out the door at some early hour on vacation!

My "best" tip ...

take the time to stop and smell the roses.

This is suppose to be a vacation. I see families frantically dragging their kids around the parks with looks of misery on their faces. When they get home, they need another vacation from the experience and talk poorly about WDW because they didn't take the time to truly enjoy it. It's not going anywhere! It still surprises me how neurotic and honestly pushy people get at WDW (usually newbies).

We ALWAYS make sure to plan a "resort day" (usually when we plan to attend an Evening EMH). You've paid all this money for this wonderful resort, take advantage of it's amenities. We wake-up late, swim in the pool and maybe even venture to other resorts to check-out the ground and restaurants.

Don't burn the candle at both ends by trying to stay up late at a park and then getting to rope drop the next morning. You can physically make yourself sick. No one wants to be sick at WDW.

Have a magical trip y'all! :wizard:

So I have a question about the famous rope drops...

The days we're there, the parks all open at 9am (we're avoiding EMH days)...is it still worth it to get there before 9am? That seems like a late start, even for people who get a late start to the morning. :confused3 Still do it?

Couldn't have said it better about the resort! You spend all that money so why not enjoy it?! On our first trip this year, out of 7 days, we had 2 resort days where we just soaked up the sun, relaxed in the hammocks, took tons of pictures, and just reveled in the atmosphere. It was a vacation within a vacation!

Good advice as well.

I have said it before: There is nothing *magical* about exhaustion.

We do rope drop, tour until after lunch and then spend the afternoon at the resort. Evenings are for dining, leisurely shopping or just taking in the sights (whether from our balcony, the Boardwalk, the Rose & Crown patio or just strolling DTD).

Personally, if you have a Park Hopper ticket, I would attend the park with a Morning EMH and head out of that park around 11 am/Noon. You would not believe how magical the park is first thing in the morning with the limited guests. You can get so much accomplished that first hour it is surreal. :cloud9:

With that said, they let people into the parks about 15 minutes before the actual posted park time (regular days). You are roped-off to a certain area, the little opening show and then the masses make a mad-dash to their desired first ride of the day right at the posted park opening time. We usually arrive to a park around 8:15/8:30 am for rope drop. I throw the families breakfast into my backpack and we eat while waiting in the turnstile line. The only rope drop opening ceremony I would HIGHLY recommend is the Magic Kingdom. Everyone should see it at least once. Epcot and DHS bored my children and they just wanted to ride already!!! We are attending our first rope drop at DAK this December. I can't wait! :woohoo: We don't do rope drop every morning of our trip. Heck! We don't even do it every other day. We may make two rope drops our whole trip.

Personally, I would pick a Morning EMH over a regular rope drop any day of the week. JMO. :wizard:

:rolleyes1 I will be honest, I am NOT a morning person (I can admit it.). However, there is something about WDW that wakes me early each morning with the anticipation of having a magical day. There must be something in the water. :rotfl:
