Can you substitute people on a cruise?

We just booked our first ever Disney cruise and are set to sail on May 28. Due to an unforseen circumstance, my husband is not going to be able to go with us. We have already paid and did not purchase travel insurance (we live very close to the port and opted not to purchase insurance-oops). Is there any way we would be able to substitute another person in his place instead? We booked through Dreams Unlimited and I am going to contact them first thing Monday morning but was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this. Thank you!

Sorry to read this, You can change anyone, bar the primary person who booked the cruise, Dreams are the best people to advise you.

Thanks for your quick reply!
I was hoping that someone would have some answers so I wouldn't have to wait until Monday to talk with Dreams. Do you happen to know if there is some type of charge to do this? Also, I booked the cruise and am hoping it is in my name and that my husband is not the primary, although that would be my luck. This was very last minute- we actually just booked it last week and it leaves in less than two weeks. Thanks again for any other insight you might have!

You are getting very close to the cruise, I wouldnt advise you on the charge, ask DU, but if you are the primary booker its do-able, Try e.mail DU now, they do have some staff there at weekends.

You said you are already paid in full, right? Then there probably will be a charge...if so, it's not a really big one. Can't remember the amount off the top of my head but it's not a huge amount.

I'd shoot off an e-mail to DU today rather than waiting until Monday morning. Not sure what their response time is on weekends, but it's certainly worth a try.

Here's what I found in some of my paperwork:

"Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to restrict any changes to a reservation. All changes are subject to availability. Please note that changes made to overall party size may result in a change to the rate.

Change Fees: A fee of $25 per person will be assessed for any changes made within 30 days of vacation commencement date."

Unfortunately it also says this:

"Changes to the vacation commencement date or changes of Guest names will be considered cancellations."

Hopefully DU will be able to get the name change taken care of under the change policy without the cancellation clause coming into effect.

Good Luck!

I was in a similar situation once and it is possible to substitute passengers. For us it would have been $85 to change a passenger's name (anyone but the primary passenger) 2 weeks before our sail date.
