Just wanted to give everyone an update on the food bank donations. I have recieved approval from 12+ people but have been told there are a few more people that need to approve this. (Funny since they are not going to promote it in any way, just allow us to drop our stuff). Currently the "proposal" is being reviewed by legal and they are still waiting to hear from a resort manager.

I guess I'll keep thinking slow and steady wins the race and we'll hear shortly. I have the "bag tag" ready to go with DIS logo (Thanks Webmaster Corey). so we should hopefully be up and running soon!

Thanks for all the support.
Sandy

Thanks for doing what you can to get the program set up!

I can't believe Disney would nix something so good! Hang in there and thanks for doing this.

I believe Disney participates in a food donation program already, so the resistance should be low. There may be liability issues they need to work out.

That's what I don't get. Disney particpates in.... "Disney Harvest" which is paid for by Disney (CM time, truck, maint, etc.) and all donated to 2nd Harvest. You would think this link would be a no brainer. My only thought is maybe because a guest suggested it, it falls under the we don't take suggestions rule. (Though I would think that should only apply where they make money).

I'll keep you posted

One difference to remember is Disney Harvest is a tax deduction. Disney is actually making money by writing off expenses they would be losing in the trash.

In this case there is no write off (some cm time, maybe), only expenses. And there is the matter of legal issues. Who is responsible, the member or Disney? I am actually surprised it got this far.

Maybe we have to all start asking for something like this when we check out, and they will get the message! Or better yet, maybe ALL of us should contact DVC and request it. Might get them off the dime!

Sandy...just wanted to chime in to add my thanks for your efforts. People such as yourself are difference-makers in this world! :)

There is actually a good samaritian law (posted on the 2nd harvest website) that covers liability. After speaking with 2nd harvest again yesterday, they have a multi million dollar corporate liability policy for "company donations to be held harmless" and there intent is to add Disney tot his and provide them a copy of the policy.
