Can you say MAJOR PIXIE DUST?!?!?

Returned last night from my trip and the Grand Floridian is "GRAND"!!! I love it there. It was beautiful. The entire experience was great. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to stay there with my friends for my Birthday. :bday:

Highlights of my trip:
Staying at the Grand Floridian
Tusker House Breakfast
BOG - Dinner

Oh congradulations! Like previous posters have said, hearing about these kinds of upgrades brings a smile to my face. During my last trip we got upgraded from the Beach Club's GV to LV-CL. It was during their construction so they either overbooked that room view or they were ahead of schedule. Either way, we got spoiled and it maaaaaay have influenced where I've chosen to stay for the next couple of trips.

EITHER WAY. Have fun and enjoy!

You'll love the GF, especially the lobby/atrium.

We are very infrequent visitors to DW, only three trips in the past thirty years. Yet our "second" trip, in 1993, was memorable because we stayed at the GF. Upon check in we were informed that the outer building where we reserved was overbooked, so they were moving us to the main building - club level, no less (back then we weren't sure what that even meant).

Now that was a great experience. Club level at that time at the GF was like having a restaurant move into the CL lobby four times a day. I remember the evening sweets were spectacular, huge variety of items of high quality. I believe the breakfasts even had hot foods like scrambled eggs and French toast. The evening spread was literally a full meal, if you wanted it to be that. It was nothing like the club levels at hotels today regardless of where you stay - it was far superior to anywhere else we have stayed.

The other two trips were to the Poly way back in 1986, and the Yacht Club (club level) in 1999. Since then we've pretty much become a Universal family and have stayed at the Hard Rock (club) and the Portofino Bay (club) several times, and this year we're doing the Royal Pacific club. But none of them have ever come close to that stay at the GF club level in terms of quality and luxury.

Awesome..I love these things that happen..We got a phone call in 2014 from a nice CM lady saying our e-mail she received regarding the closure of the main pool at WL wouldn't spoil our vacation, and gave us a $250 gift card to spend..Now this year is even better with a magical surprise for our 14 night stay to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and our 30th anniversary ...Sorry, but if I tell you the secret surprise, then it wouldn't be magical..lol..Glad you had a awesome time...We also have two surprises at GF this year in October...

That is so awesome!!! I love hearing about "Pixie Dust!"

I actually turned down an "offer" once...I was there in August 2009 at the Yacht Club. I'd been in 2007 for my honeymoon and unfortunately, ended up with an awful cold, so I wanted to go back and actually have a fun trip! And as you can see by my signature, I was quite hooked! Anyway, they were doing work at the Yacht Club and offered to switch us to the Boardwalk and give us one night for free. I really had my heart set on the Yacht Club and the trip was already paid for (plus, we had already gotten 2 nights free at the Yacht Club due to a promotion they were running at the time). The only room available for us was a handicap-accessible room. This didn't bother me...I always take showers on vacation anyway, so I didn't miss the bathtub. Plus the room was right off the lobby, so very quick access to get outside.

Fast forward to January 2014 and we were booked in a standard room at the Boardwalk. We were there for my birthday. We were magically upgraded to a cottage suite!! There's no way we could afford to stay in one of those for 5 nights. My DH was particularly thrilled because he loves his breakfast and he was able to get continental breakfast every morning in the concierge lounge instead of eating the pop tarts that we'd brought. We returned this year and stayed at CBR, which after experiencing the cottage suite and concierge lounge, was a little bit of a letdown. I know I was spoiled on that trip though, and it is such a happy memory and the best birthday I've ever had.
