Can you put a "limit" on children's cards on their room keys?

Children have earned extra spending money for this trip and have their own souvin(Ear) $, but I don't want them to carry cash around. Thinking they could put the money limit on each of their cards, is this possible to custom make the cards do this? Or, are they tied to fixed amount? I do not want it to limit dh's and my cards.

TIA. This board has made our trip planning very successful and will be testing it in 2 days!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I don't think it's doable. It's really just one big acct, based on the person who's cc is left. I didn't let my dd have charging on her room key until she was 10. Maybe you could let them charge on their card, then settle up their 'bill' at the end of the day. Keep the receipts for what they charged and they could reimburse you each day. Their money could stay in the room safe. I give my dd a set amount of Disney Dollars each day to spend as she wishes.

If your kids are old enough to understand the whole charging thing, they are old enough to understand the limit. Just tell them what there limit is and let them have at it. Most kids will be pretty conscientious, and if they are not that will also tell you a few things.

TY, the two oldest are 14 and 12 and very responsible. I will keep record. They are great about giving receipts, etc. I am wanting to give more autonomy due to unexpected w/c traveling for my dh. TYVM.

Very true!! I will give them privileges because I want them to help family. They know their limits, so I am confident they will stay within those.

My head is in a fog, as we rush our final preparations of 2 days!!

TY for responding.

Tried this at WL in Nov 2003 for my son. Could only lower the entire room limit, not just one card.

Kept it at $1500, told son it was $500, with warnings and requests that he keep all receipts.

We had no problems, and he loved having the freedom and the ability to go freely around Disney with his cousin and be the big shot and pay for some snacks....
