Can you purchase military-discount tickets @ the gate?

I am questioning this..we were once told no, and that we had to purchase them at Shades of Green. However, a Disney agent on the phone said that we can purchase them at the park when we get there.

Does anyone know?

Was there a policy change, maybe?

We have always purchased them from the base or Shades of Green. If you can buy them at the gate you will pay tax, just keep that in mind. One other note, it is a real pain to get them at Shades of Green.We wasted about 2 hours to get them from driving over there, parking and waiting in line.

If you are speaking of the 4-day Armed Forces Salute tickets, they can be purchased at Disney ticket booths and Guest Relations locations throughout the World.

You could get the AF Salute tickets at SOG. Also the regular MYW tickets. There is no sales tax collected, which is basically the only savings you will receive on these tickets buying at SOG. IMO, going to SOG wastes a lot of valuable vacation time just to save a little tax. Getting in and parked is very slow, finding your way to ticket sales is confounding, and there can be a long line.

I think I can explain why you might be confused. For several years Disney has offered Stars & Stripes tickets for purchase at Shades of Green or at your base/post. These could only be purchased at these two locations. Shades of Green and bases can also sell regular Magic My Way tickets, which are slightly cheaper than gate prices because they don't include tax.

However, currently (and for the last year or so) Disney has been running a special military promotion for 4 day park hoppers. These tickets can be purchased at a base, SOG, or at the regular ticket booths at the parks and Downtown Disney.

So, depending on which military tickets you want to buy, you may be able to get them at a regular ticket booth.

If you are looking for the four day Armed Forces Salute Tickets which include hopping and/or WPF&M you may buy and activate them at any Park (including water parks, TTC and DTD) ticket selling location.

If you are looking for any other military-discounted rate ticket your only choices are at SoG or your nearest MWR/ITT office.
