I found a great deal for a Disney Fairytale vacation at the All Star Resorts. We will be staying 9/6-9/13. My husband is a HUGE sports fan, so I figured we would stay at the Sports resort. Are there any advantages to staying at one All Star resort than another?

Also- would we be able to comfortable get away without renting a car if we stay at one of the All Star Resorts?

Thanks!

dh and i never rent a car when we go to wdw and we have stayed at the all stars a couple of times. we have always been fine.

however, if anyone in your party is "anal" about getting places at specific times and you don't want to budget 30-40 minutes to get there, it would probably be best to rent a car. we have always been happy with the all star's busses, but i know other people here whose mileage has varied.

caitycaity,

Can you tell me if this shuttle service runs at night to Pleasure Island also? Do shuttles come and go often?

Thanks a bunch for your help!

yes it sure does! on one trip the all star buses came to the pi bus stop what seemed like every 10-15 minutes. we never had to wait very long. however, on another trip the buses seemd to take more like 15-20 minutes.

for us though, we didn't mind just "going with the flow" especially since then both of us could indulge in kungalooshes. :teeth:

There's a big advantage to staying at Sports - the busses stop there first. A couple of times when we were there the bus filled up at Sports and they had to send a different bus for Music and Movies. Plus, you get a better chance for a seat when you go to the parks.

Don't bother with a car. We stayed the Sports twice and it was great!!! We like to get to the parks super early and the buses do run VERY early, so don't worry about that!

No info on ASSp; but just wanted to say don't worry about a car. We drive to WDW, but we NEVER use our car! The busses are just soooo convenient!:D :D :D :D :D

We haven't stayed at the Sports, but have been to the Music and Movies and I doubt you'll be disappointed! Both of the ones we stayed at were awesome and Sports is next on our list.

I agree with the above posters about not needing a car.We DO get one,but only because my DH likes to be "in control" and when he starts to get cranky from other people driving him around,we use it then ;) .

We've stayed at ASMu, and thought the buses ran great. We never waited long for a bus going to wherever we wanted to go. We did, however, use our rental car for "emergency" trips to Wal-Mart. My goofy DD forgot to pack, of all things, underwear - and rather than pay the VERY long buck at WDW, we zipped over to Rt. 192 and went to Wal-Mart. And then goofy me forgot to pack long pants. We were there in late June, and have never needed long pants before - only this time the e-night was very late and it was a cool evening. Again - back to Wal-Mart. Having the car is nice, but not necessary. Have fun.:D

We just got back a couple of weeks ago from All Star Music. I most definately agree with the previous posts. The bus system is great. There is no need for a car at all. The longest we waited for a bus was 15 minutes when we were coming back from mgm one afternoon. The bus picks you up in front of the All Stars and drops you off very close to each of the entrances of the parks. I would go back to the All Stars in a heartbeat. Great Disney atmosphere!

My swan reservation feel through {long story :( }. Anyways, I was looking at possible doing the gold dream makers package at AS-Sports for Dec 26 to Jan 3 and was wondering if you thought that a solo traveler would enjoy himself at AS-Sports. Any and all information would be great.

Thanks

I do recommend a vehicle if you plan on going to other resorts for dinners or just to browse. Resorts are not on the regular loop for the buses and will have to go to DTD before you can get to nad back to your resort. If you will be only going to the parks you will not need a vehicle. I hope this helped.
