A friend is having a birthday party with a 70's/80's theme. Does anyone remember the names of the dances that were out at that time? We already have : the hustle, robot, bump, rubber band, gigolo, babydoll and the freak. Any others?

the Bus Stop and the Funky Chicken?

Cool, the bus stop and the funky chicken. That's "happening"

the Hustle, the Bump, Pop and Lock, the Cabbage Patch, and the Freak ( I worked in a disco in the late 70's-early 80's!)

How about the Electric Slide:

Instructions here

I think the Electric Slide was an early 90s thing.

How about the Car Wash from the 70s and the Wop from the 80s?

I think the Electric Slide was a revival of The Hustle.
I was an early to mid 90's thing.

I seem to remember all my guy friends breakdancing. Is that in the time frame or too late?

I love the hustle!

Is the Limbo 60's?

What about the Achy Breaky heart dance...

Actually the electic slide was mid to late 80's. I am from the slums of Chicago and I learned of it back in 1987 but it was going on before I learned of it. Now it might of went mainstream in the 1990's but the ghetto has been doing it longer

Wasn't there another dance called Four Corners? I am remembering the name, but not the steps.

I loved the Disco era - I love to dance! DH, then boyfriend, poor thing - I'd make him go do the Hustle and Night Fever with me on Saturday night. He was sooooooooo glad when that era ended. :teeth:
