Can you make vanilla Coke zero?

I love vanilla Coke zero. You can't buy it in Canada. If I added some ordinary vanilla extract to regular Coke zero, would it be the same? If so, how much should I add?

This is a budget thing because if I drive all the way to the US to buy cases of vanilla Coke zero, my budget will be shot.

I suspect you'd want a vanilla syrup rather than vanilla extract. Vanilla syrup would be the type of thing you'd add to a coffee. You may also find it with bar products. of course this is just a guess and I don't know that it would taste the same.

You can buy vanilla syrup for drinks in the grocery store - look in the aisle with the Nestle Quik and instant cocoa. I know this as I buy the stuff for my DH to have in his morning milk(he's not a coffee drinker).

Woo-Hoo! I just made 2000 in posts!

I have added a couple drops of good quality vanilla in Coke, and it's not bad at all! You really don't need the syrup because it's already sweetened.

I wish we could get soft drinks with good old-fashioned sugar like you do in Canada!

Definitely look for the Torani syrups, altho I'm sure a very high quality vanilla extract will probably add the same flavor. When I want to make Cherry or Vanilla flavored drinks, we go with Torani.

Homemade Vanilla Coke Syrup
Ingredients
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Directions
In medium saucepan over medium high heat, bring water and sugar to a boil.
Cook until mixture thickens slightly, about three minutes.
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and let cool to room temperature.
Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

Then pour one can of Coke and add 1 Tablespoon of the vanilla syrup and enjoy :goodvibes

*edited to add that I just realized since you're asking about Coke Zero you probably don't want the sugar in the syrup recipe above. D'oh! Sorry, I don't know if a no cal sweetner would work.....

:cool1:I am a big coke zero fan also I would try the sugar free coffee syrup like they use in the coffee houses. check around the warehouse stores it may be cheaper there.
I use the sugarfree peach syrup to make peach tea it tastes almost as good as snapple just not a buck a bottle.
we have a place down here in so cal that is called smart and final and they carry many flavors of the same flavoring syrups they use at starbucks for about 4 dollars a bottle. both regular and sugarfree. saves a ton of money if you like that stuff.

yes, just add about 1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract for each 8 oz of soda. This is the way they used to do it in the old diners, long before it was ever marketed by Coke.

I'd recommend the vanilla syrup too. But make sure it's the sugar-free kind, otherwise, it's no longer Vanilla Coke Zero. :lmao:

Unless you're buying imitation vanilla, real vanilla is just as (if not more) expensive as syrup.
