I know it as odd question. DS wanted to bake cookies tonight. I am out of all purpose flour. I have tons of bread flour though. Can I use bread flour in a cookie recipe? If it makes any difference, we are trying to make Mint Chocolate Delights. It is a Toll House recipe. Thanks!

I am not sure if it is good for the cookies, but I am sure that no matter what kind of flour was used in the cookies, I would eat them. I love cookies. Especially these mint-chip ones that are made at this time of year. ;)

I love you! Shouldn't you be working instead of trolling the Dis? They were supposed to be a surprise for when you came home.

I love you, too.

Sometimes, I just have to troll. And to be completely honest, I read through your post before I realized it was you, and then I had to comment.

p.s. If it will make you feel better, I will totally act suprised.

You can but I'm not sure I'd recommend it. There's different amounts of gluten in the flour, which will affect the outcome.

I accidentally made muffins with bread flour once and they turned out like hockey pucks.

But as previously noted by your cookie-eating companion, my husband still ate the muffins anyway....

Thanks! I will just have him buy me some AP flour tomorrow and I will make them tomorrow night.

I'd think they would be extremely puffy. Maybe you can take a spatula and press them down halfway into baking. Also, do NOT over mix, that is what causes gluten. Something to do with the mixing.

If you have a box of cake mix, you can make cookies very easily. :thumbsup2

I posted a Mint chocolate chip recipe here on the last page, using cake mix:
