Can you identify birds ?

he roped them all together:confused3:eek:

No, there are special nets you string up, like a volleyball net, but much finer holes and string. The birds get caught as they fly, you untangle them, put a band on their ankle, like a bracelet and record the number, then set the bird free. Any birds you get with a band on, you record the number and set them free again.

It helps give info on their migratory routes and such.

Just a few of them... I see cardinals, blue jays, hummingbirds, roadrunners, cranes, mourning doves, and hawks in my yard.

Beyond those, I'd probably have to ask somebody or look up the picture to figure out what bird I'm seeing.

WhatBird is actually a good website to see pictures and hear bird calls if you're trying to identify a bird. :)

Yes, it is a hobby of mine.

Me too! After Disney, birding is my biggest hobby and has been for about 15 years. Every year, DH and I take a trip to a place specifically for bird-watching. In June we're going to 2 Wildlife refuges in Idaho and Oregon. So identifying birds is a skill I'm pretty proud of.

I can identify many birds, but not all of them by any means. The ones around here I can identify. I really like to hear mourning doves!
