Can you identify birds ?

Several. DD went through a stage when she was young when we bird watched and she was very into identifying them. I have a friend who can identify most just by their singing and tweeting. I know a crow and a bob white by that but nothing else, really.

I know a lot of people that also know all this stuff about nature. I must have been sick that day of school.

Not alot but some of the natives around here.... My DS6 can identify alot of them though and he never misses the first Robins every year ... he knows winter is almost over.

Feathers, wings, beak ... yep, it is a bird! :lmao:

Yep, I like to point out my favorite birds to people...."there's one.....there's one....there's one"

When I was a kid, the guy nextdoor did birdbanding, we used to watch and help him band birds so I can name quite a few. It was a great time.

he roped them all together:confused3:eek:

I can identify birds that are native to my area, that's about it. Robins, mourning doves, cardinals, hawks, crows, etc.

Because there are so many exotic birds in Florida, I bought a Florida bird guide right after moving here. Now, I know a lot of different types of birds. Before moving here, I only knew Robins, Bluejays, Cardinals, Sparrows and Crows!

Yes, I finally learned last summer how to tell the difference between a bald Eagle soaring in the sky and a turkey vulture!! I love to bird watch and I can also spot hawks in the trees, or egrets and cranes in a pond while driving down the highway

I used to hike a lot and I got to where I could identify a lot of birds. I love the wading birds and the raptors but I do get a bit lost when I see all of the brown or yellow songbirds.

There are many things I don't know, but when I see or hear a bird, and it's a bird that you'd expect to see flying around the skies of Nova Scotia, I know that bird! It always surprises me when people can't identify your basic everyday wild birds.

But then, I should understand, because I'm clueless about cars. And shoes.

Those of you who don't know a chickadee from a wren, did you know that you are suffering from a named and studied disorder? Yes, just google Nature Deficit Disorder.

Do you suppose I can qualify for Vehicle Deficit Disorder or Fashion Deficit Disorder?

Oh sure. Growing up we had a bird book. Plus I still try and identify birds to this day.

So I suppose it is a hobby as well.

Some. However, I know much more about identifying trees. Yes, I'm just that boring.

Nope. Not at all. Unless it's a blue jay and then I know only because it's blue.

Now, my mother knows all the bird's sounds and can replicate them. She tweets back at them  We laugh and say she's having a conversation! She sounds pretty good and would make a convincing bird. ;)
