Can you have the same email account on two separate computers and get all the emails delivered to both? Both computers would be laptops if that makes a difference.

Absolutely, I get mine on my laptop, desktop, netbook & Cell phone.

How? I have our email account set up on our laptop and our desktop right now but if I open the emails on the laptop, for example, they will load on the laptop. If later I go to the desktop, they don't load there, but new ones might.

You have to tell the laptop to not remove the messages from the server. I don't remember how, somebody talked me through it. It had to have been pretty easy. I use Outlook.

download to laptop
and phone.

My emails are not removed (aka deleted) from the server. We hAve earthlink. I don't know what exactly my husband did to set
it up though.

I will warn you....since I don't go on my laptop that often....when I open up outlook when I do finally get on...it takes a while
to catch up as it downloads.

Thanks. I found the box to check for that. I have to go set up the computers now and see if it works!!

::yes:: DH set up MS Outlook for me down here on the PC as well as upstairs on the Mac (when it's on Windows mode for me).

if you have a web based email account like Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail you can.

It can also be Pop account, too. My email account is from our internet provider. DH set up Outlook for me to automatically download my email so that I don't have to go online to our provider's web site to get it.

I have Gmail (Google). As the emails are stored on Google's server, I can open them on anything. I never have to worry about losing them. If I want them forwared to one computer, I can set that up. It also has a POP feature, (I think.) I don't know what that is as I've never used it.

I have both an aol & a yahoo e-mail account. I can open both on any computer. I have never had a problem with an e-mail disappearing. If it's something important I just choose "keep as new".

An e-mail is an e-mail. The computer or device you use is just the way you access the mail. You could go to your local Holiday Inn & be able to access your e-mail accounts from the computers they have in their lobbies.

Maybe the OP is accidentally clicking the delete button after reading each email? Or it's set to auto delete after reading? Like the "Keep copy on file" is not checked or something.

This did the trick, THANKS!!!:thumbsup2

I have been meaning to move computers around the house for a while and this prompted me to get it done. I have my good laptop where I want it now and other computers where they need to go. I also finally got all the laptops hooked up to the new wireless printer so we are good to go for when school starts.

This is also more secure as the email (and any malicious attachment it may contain) is sitting on a web server somewhere. Of course it can still infect your computer but it requires a bit more pro-activity on the part of the user while a message sitting in Outlook can cause infection much easier.

Yes, a web based email system should not be a problem with more than one computer.

I use Eudora as my email client.

On the laptop I have it set that it will not remove mail from the server unless it is deleted from the trash. I have the trash empty each time I close Eudora. So anything I want to save I either keep in the in box or in another folder.

On my desktop, the setting is that mail is deleted from the server when it loads on the computer. I only use the laptop when traveling or for some reason not using the desktop, such as running a full backup.
