Can you fly standby on Southwest?

I just found out today that hubby is off the day we fly to Disney. Of course that got me thinking that I'd like to take an earlier flight if possible. Does anyone know if Southwest will allow us to fly standby on an earlier flight? I would rebook but the rates have gone up quite a bit since we booked...plus we booked on a Ding. Thanks for your replies.

You can, but you'd have to pay the difference between the price you have already paid the the higher price avail on that flight.

That seems to be one of the down sides of SWA from what many have posted. Some of the other airlines will allow stand-by and no charge, based on availability, but SWA doesn't do that.

You could call it a downside, but, then everyone who wanted a lower fare would book what was available and not what they wanted and then go to the airport to fly standby on the flight that they really wanted.
Considering the low fares, I will happily take this "downside" and jmho, the upsides far outweigh this one "downside".

Keep checking the Ding fares and sale fares. They may open up for that date and you can change it.
