Can you explore HH resort, without staying there?

We will be in Hilton Head next week.

Is it possible to just check out the resort, and look around. Shop in the gift shop etc. My daughter collects Pins, and would like to get 1 or 2.

I don't see why not, we did this several years ago at Vero Beach. If you are a DVC member you can likely get a day pass that will enable you to check out the beach house as well.

Have fun.

When it is real busy the parking lot can get full. This is why they dont let people through the gate sometimes. If you just want to check it out, you could always park in the shelter cove lot and walk across the bridge. This way, you do not take the space of a guest. Also some think they can just pop in for a swim. I dont think this is fair as it put an extra person in a pool that is always at near full capcity. I don't mind a stroll and look around.

HHI is sold out, I don't know if they give tours anynore.
I dont know if you would even be able to get to the beach house as you have to pass a guard and then have access keys to get in the beach house.

Anyway, have a good time in HHI and enjoy the look. You will love the resort. I hope you would not be disapointed at the gift shop. It really is small with out alot of stuff. Their pin selection is pretty much the same as the one at the Disney Store.

They are starting to put out "Shadow" (the resort mascot dog) items. I would love to see some pins of her.

Thanks for the replies.

I agree that trying to swim there would off limits. I don't think I even hinted that we would try to do such a thing. As I said before, I just wanted to get a couple of pins.

I highly doubt that our quick visit would impact the guests. We will prob. stop by on a bike ride. Our condo is pretty close to there, in palmetto dunes.

I would imagine that in the less busy times, you'd probably be able to have access more easily than during the high season when the resort is already crowded.

I think they're making it harder for non-guests to sneak into the pools. On our recent trip, they were doing "room key checks" at both the beach house and resort swimming pools. We saw them "ask" someone to leave the beach house when he was unable to produce a room key OR "remember" his room number. ;)

I was less-than-thrilled to see that the lock to the beach house pool from the beach was not always working, and that one of the doors from the parking lot also didn't require a key all the time.

If arriving on bike, just park the bikes in the lodge and go up to the front desk. They'll be happy to give you some information about the resort (ask for the Hidden Mickey tour sheet for your daughter).

They can direct you to the Mercantile to check out the pins. The pool is right there also.

If arriving by car, pull up to the gate and push the button to talk with a CM. They will welcome you into the resort for a look around.

There are no tours any longer, since the sale staff has been gone for a couple of years- but if there are any vacant rooms, I'm sure a CM will he happy to let you look around.

We just returned from the resort :( and can't wait for our next trip.

Enjoy!
