My sister doesn't have enough airmiles for an adult 5day base ticket - which is what she wants. But, she has enough for a child 5day base ticket. Can she use her airmiles here for the child ticket and bring it to guest services when we arrive and exhange and pay the $ difference? Anyone know what kind of value she would get for her child ticket?

Yes excellent question! Only cause it may appply to me as well:thumbsup2 . I have 1935 airmiles and you need 2105 for the 5Day base tix. We don't leave till Mar 13th and it says you need 1-2 weeks to have them delivered once you order them so my target date for points is Feb 20th to allow an extra week. I bought 6 day base tix for the others and was hoping to change my 5 day once we arrive and just pay the difference but if I can't get enough points I may need to look into the child tix swap. Hope someone knows the answer to this. I have family members offering their airmiles but airmiles pretty much stops you from doing that unless someone dies and you can prove they are dead etc.

I bought the 5 day base tickets for my family - 2 child and 2 adult. It cost me 7590 airmiles (I now have 10 left in my account). I'll let you know how long it takes for them to come. The receipt from airmiles said to allow 3-4 weeks for delivery for merchandise but didn't say how long for tickets.
I think I'll call Disney on Tuesday to find out the answer to this. We are leaving Feb 10 so we really only have a couple of weeks to add up some airmiles for her.

On the airmiles site it says 'your tickets will be mailed to you in 1-2 weeks' but what they say isn't necessarily what will happen. That's why I'm allowing the extra week but please still post the delivery time if you can. GL on the tix swap

I haven't ordered WDW tickets, but I have ordered passes for places around TO, as well as Legoland and Seaworld for our upcoming DL trip. In all cases, the tickets (legoland and Seaworld are actual passes) came in 2-3 days by expresspost. Now, I live in the GTA where they are mailed. So, outside of Ontario I would add a few days.

The 1-2 weeks quote on their website is generous -- but I still always order my passes months in advance:rotfl: I do suggest that you check the expiry dates on the passes when you receive them. Tickets printed by airmiles always expire a year from issue. However, actual passes are picked from their warehouse stock and the ones I received for California were actually expiring shortly. They've made note of the problem at their distribution centre, but you should always double check.

I am really interested in the answer to this one too......thanks for asking!

Okay, so I've just got off the phone with Disney.
We're good to go! She said there would be no problem exchanging Disney tickets from airmiles for the ticket you need at disney world. That includes taking at 5daybase adult and paying the difference to exchange for a 7dayparkhopper adult. Or, a 5daybase child and paying the difference to exchange for a 5daybase adult.

For anyone keeping track - my sister is getting a 5daybase child ticket from airmiles for 1690miles and will exchange when she goes to Guest Services at Disney for a 5daybase adult and will pay $39US!

I'll have to remember this for next time - I had already purchased two adult tickets with airmiles that cost 4210 miles when I could have saved 830 miles and spent $78.

Thanks for finding out! That is amazing and I never even knew I could redeem airmiles for WDW until this thread! I am so thrilled!

OK, so lets just hope the Airmiles police don't catch on LOL. I think this is a really good way to go - less Airmiles and not much more $$ to upgrade to the adult. Thanks to the OP and those who checked for giving us the scoop! :thumbsup2

Yup! Have done this many a time! That is what we always use our Airmiles for. We always use them to upgrade to an Annual Pass.

What is the price difference to turn it to an AP? Are you DVC and can you use that discount as well?

I'm happy you got the answer you wanted. Usually Disney is happy to take your money. As long as you are not asking for any money back, they find a way. Have a great time.

In the past, they have allowed the extra discount. My DH was a TDS cast member, and they applied his discount to it. We will find out in May when we get new AP's as we are now DVC members. I would certainly imagine they will let you, as you will still be giving them money. I figure with the DVC discount, an upgrade from a 5 day Adult no exp park hop should cost around $85-100 U.S.

I'll ask when I'm down next month. Not sure if we'll get the APs anyways - it depends on when we think we'll go next and I doubt it will be before feb 08 - so the extra charge now won't help with our next trip.

They arrived today! Ordered Dec 28 - so 7 business days - over a holiday weekend. Not bad.
They have a printed date on the back - two have dec 06, two have jan 05. I assume they don't expire until you first use them..right?

Hhmmm... I had my problems with the Claifornia Legoland passes. I resolved it with Legoland rather than airmiles. Legoland said they would honour the expired passes airmiles sent. (Airmiles wouldn't do anything until I couriered them back to their office at my own expense. Then, they would credit my account but couldn't promise that any new tickets mailed out wouldn't also be expired. Said they had problems at their warehouse.)

I'm confused by the jan 05 date... would they still be 2007 passes? If you're at all confused, I would call Disney direct and give them the code numbers to check. Do that before dealing with airmiles.

Did you look at just buying the airmiles to make up the difference? When we booked our flight last year, we didnt have enough Airmiles for all 5 tickets, so we just bought the last 3-4 hundred that we needed. I don't know if they will let you for the passes, but it wouldn't hurt to ask...

Where do you rack up the most airmiles points? Is it Dominion? A gas station? How long did it take some of you to get those point totals?

Thanks. Curious.
