Can you drive a "stick"?

Yes, I can. My DS is upset because I can and he can't. DH tried to teach him and we ended up having to put a new clutch in DH's pickup. Strictly automatics for DS. :car:

 I do! :thumbsup2 I will drive one until I a physically unable to!

I have 2 funny things about it --- when I go to the car wash I have to make sure one of 2 guys is there to drive it in :rotfl2: A few months ago I was getting new tires, I handed over the keys and something told me at the last minute to say "It is stick" he kind of paused I told him to call me if he needed me to pull it in! We had to wait for the manager to show up to drive it in the bay

My neice just bought one for college... she said she did it so no one would borrow her car LOL!!

I love my 2004 Nissan Altima 5-speed but would love the 6 speed Nissan Z

Nope, can't do it. My eye-hand-foot coordination sucks. :worried:

::yes:: I can. DH's car is a stick. But I prefer to drive an automatic.

You bet I can. I tend to drive sportier type cars. The way to get the most out of the horsepower and torque out of the car is with a stick shft!

Yes...I was "forced" to learn.

My brother had terrible asthma when he was little. My stepfather bought a little truck with a stick and told me I had to learn how to use it in case I was home alone with my brother and he needed to get to the emergency room and the truck was the only vehicle available.

So he took me out to a big parking lot and told me we could go home when I could get out of the parking lot (there was a BIG hill at the exit).

I finally made it and as we approached a bar/lounge he told me to pull in. We walked in and he bought me a drink! Then drove us both home!

DH can't drive one though! :teeth:

I can't, but GoofyDad869's car is a manual.

LOL! Sure can! I learned to drive in a 73 Nova with a stick. That thing was a tank. :) I had to learn how to drive an automatic when I bought a car in 1991. I tried to shift the gears on the floor once. :( DH didn't believe that I could drive one so he gave me the keys to his Acura one day. I was nervous because it had been YEARS since I had done that. I started it up & took off smoothly. :)

I've been driving one every day since I bought my first car back in 1990. I LOVE the instant response!! I don't really like automatic transmissions, but I will admit they are nice to have in stop-and-go traffic!! Dh also knows how to drive a "stick" but his car is an automatic. My car is so much more fun to drive! ZOOM!!

Currently drive an automatic, but my first car was a stick and my first pick up truck was a 3-on-the-tree....

My first car was a 4 speed Hi Performance Nova. Since I was paying for it, it was learn to drive it or park it.

Yup! I just bought a 2006 Scion tc and insisted on manual transmission. All the guys at work are impressed with me! :thumbsup2 DH's car is a manual also. When dd gets to driving age, she will learn on a manual first.

Yes, I can drive a stick, although I haven't done it for quite a while. It's like riding a bicycle - it comes right back, even the hill starts. Afterwards I get into an automatic and look for the clutch.

Nope! I've never even sat behind the wheel of a manual transmission!

Absolutely!! I love driving a standard transmission, I even taught my DH how to drive stick. The only vehicle we have now with a standard transmission is my husbands pickup. Unfortunately, my feet don't reach the pedals. If I pull the seat all the way forward, my chest is hitting the steering wheel, and I am on tiptoes trying to get the clutch all the way to the floor. Oh well. My DH offered to put wood blocks on the pedals for me. I thought that was hysterical and probably quite dangerous.

Yep. I drive both. And I have both.

Asolutely - Ilove how much easier they are to control on snow and ice.
