Can you do DME one way?

Here's my pickle: I'm meeting friends who are DVC members at Saratoga Springs. I've heard I can use DME to get to SS. They are leaving one day before I am. I am moving to either All Star hotel or Hilton at Downtown Disney. I was thinking of renting car for either a) the ride back to airport and b) maybe having it for one or two days prior to leaving.

Can I rent car for one way? And where would I pick up car?

Yes you can use DME one way and if you end up at a Disney resort rather than downtown you can use DME both ways. If you reserve the all star resort they will move your luggage for you and you can take ME back to the airport. So if you calculate the cost of getting a rental to get you from SS to the Hilton and then to the airport it may be cheaper and easier to just stay at a WDW Value. You can rent a car inside WDW proper at the car care center or at the Dolphin resort.
