Can you change a roundtrip into a oneway?

I booked SW a couple of weeks ago when they had the $44 dollars rate into Tampa. I was so excited about getting such a good rate that I booked round trip. Now a $49 rate has come open for the first leg of our trip from our home airport into MCO. Can I change the first leg from Tampa to MCO? I didn't know since I had booked round trip. Anybody

Unless your $44 rate required a R/T purchase, yes you can.
