Can you buy a Disney balloon at your resort?

Hi,

I have heard about the AC turning "off" while there is not movement in the room at the Poly. Someone suggested buying mylar balloon and letting it roam within the room while out and sleeping.

Does this really work and can you get one at the GCH?

I thought we would do this first thing as we want to keep cool. lol.

I've personally never seen balloons for sale at the resorts, only at the parks.

I remember reading a post here from someone who brought a little electric fan with them, and tied a (non-helium) balloon to it with some string and let it run, and it worked the same as letting a helium balloon bob around. Also, I think there is some way to override the automatic thermostat by pushing all of the buttons in at once? Maybe someone with more knowledge can expand on that.

I would love to know how to override the AC. I am always HOT!!! Wonder if it is the same for all resorts.

definitely not the same at all resorts. POP has a thermostat that's always on. POFQ and CBR have those giant typical hotel box things that you turn the dial on. as long as housekeeping doesn't turn it off (and in my experience, they usually turn them ON at disney if they're not already), it's on when you get back.

Even at POP , is there a way to make the temp. lower than the lowest it goes by itself , by holding in buttons or something?

On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow(that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. He, the maintenance CM, then said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was no problem doing this as they do it for people all the time.
