I would think that is not a problem and if you are really worried, just find a creative container. The TOTWL has tons of outdoor space so drinking your own would not be an issue.

To the deck? Probably. Into the lounge? That's not really an appropriate thing to do although I wouldn't be shocked if someone did and the CMs didn't say anything. I would never even contemplate it personally.

I would not walk into an establishment that sells liquor with my own drink, but the question is worth asking about the outside viewing area.

I love the TOTWL and have been there many times. I would estimate that out of 100 people that visit this location, about 15 will enter the bar area and order a drink or appetizer.

In other words, the majority of people, by far, are only there to view the fireworks. I doubt they will take it away, but they could always reduce the services.

People should not feel guilty about visiting there and not buying something. Besides, they could not handle the rush of orders if everyone ordered something 15 mins before the fireworks.

On the 4th of July (well, 3rd) we were up at the TOWL and I got there very early to get a seat on the glass for the special fireworks. We had several of the appetizers and drinks, and ran up a decent bill, but it was worth the glass seat....and we enjoyed our food and drinks btw. I can't say I was overly impressed by the fellow with his lawn chair and cooler of Miller lite. This is one of very few evenings of the year where it's not just crowded for the fireworks, it's at capacity. To sit out in your lawn chair with a cooler of Miller lite.....was, well, classless for lack of better term.

I've sat around pools with my own beverages.....very near to the pool bars, not just at Disney but other places.....but something about the chair and miller lite was beyond wrong. If you are heading up to see fireworks and bring a beer or other drink with you on your way seems totally legit. But to make an evening out of it with your own cooler? I just don't agree.

I am one to limit my alcohol purchases in Disney......and not just disney, but out in general. There is a huge markup (hey liqueur licenses ain't free) but $8 a beer is outrageous anywhere (NFL season ticket holder and I don't buy beer in the stadium). Unless you really like your local place and don't want to see them go out of business. I happen to enjoy the TOWL so I do buy a drink or two as it's an establishment I don't want to see disappear. I'm NOT in the camp who thinks it's in danger of going away anytime soon btw.....I heard those rumors when I first purchased my DVC there, and it's still around. I've spoken to a few CM's there who do read the disboards and get a chuckle out of the "rumors" that fly around here.

TOTWL is owned and paid for by the BLT owners. Disney leases the lounge area from DVC and keeps the proceeds from all sales. To Disney it's a business, if they aren't making enough money in the lounge, they will close the bar.

Bringing your own drink or food to a place of business that serves the same is pushing it IMO.

Haha, that's interesting that WDPR leases the land to DVD for the building, and then DVC leases the lounge area back to WDPR! But yea the fold up chair and cooler full of beer is a bit tasteless. How could he even see over the railing sitting in one of those?

I personally think bringing your own drinks or food into TOTWL is like bringing a bag from Burger King into a McDonald's. They are there to sell drinks and food and provide a great view and atmosphere to accompany it. I myself would not visit a restaurant or lounge anywhere and bring my own beverages or food. JMO.

You can technically go directly to the outside viewing area without going into the lounge, if it's the fireworks you want to view. I wouldn't go INTO the lounge with outside food, though (but that's me). I don't know what the rules are, specifically, though.

I did see other people with what looked like sodas (with the plastic lids, etc.) that may have been purchased in a quick service dining location, but again, this was outside and not in the lounge itself. Whether you buy your drinks from the lounge inside is up to you. I personally find the drinks irresistible - love the dark cherry twist (I think that's what it is called) and the 7 layer cake.

I am sure that there are costs being paid for by the owners that are not covered in the lease. We will never know the terms of the lease, what is paid for and what isn't. Would people still use the lounge if the BLT owned and paid for viewing deck was off limits to lounge users?

We were staying on the top floor of BLT 2 years ago, just steps from the deck and lounge. When we went to see wishes we just walk down the hall out to the deck and then back to our room. We never went to the lounge. I do not think we brought drinks out with us, but I would have not hesitated to bring a glass of wine with me from my room. It was a different feel coming from our room to the viewing deck.

I don't think they would allow that there. In my experience at TotWL they will allow non-alcoholic beverages (i.e. water) but not any outside adult drinks.

I've had a room on that floor too. It was AWESOME. Kids were VERY little back then, and would be in bed early. I was in and out of there all night. And I agree. If you have your own beverages in your room, and walk out to the deck with a drink, that's totally acceptable....and I think that's may be what the OP was asking.....but bringing a 6 pack or more? Yeah, that's over the line in my book.
