Can you bring food in to Universal like you can at WDW (such as a packed lunch)? Thanks.

forgot to add one more restriction
you can't bring in a wheeled ice chest.

from the UO website:

We offer a variety of fresh, delicious food for our guests to enjoy at restaurants and concession stands throughout our resort; however, we understand that guests may need to bring outside food and drink into our parks. Please note the following guidelines for bringing food and drink into our parks:

Acceptable items:

Bottled water
Small snacks that do not require heating
Any food required for medical purposes and medically–indicated nutritional supplements
Any food required for special dietary needs
Baby food/baby formula
Soft-sided insulated bags no larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep

Prohibited items:
Picnic lunches
Food that requires heating or refrigeration
Alcohol and glass containers
Hard-sided coolers
Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep
Coolers, suitcases, and bags with wheels
Clothing with offensive language or content
Clothing that represents someone as emergency personnel

Macraven always has the best info! I find it funny that the official rules say no picnic lunch. I read lots of threads where people say they packed lunch (sandwiches, etc) and brought it in a small bag ( no big or hard sided coolers)....

thanks

i see families bring in a back pack full of food.
some use the family lockers in the front section of the studios to store it until they need it. (those large lockers have a pay one fee and you can reuse it all day)

i'm guessing that they want to save money, have picky eaters or have dietary needs.
you take a family into the park and it gets expensive!

when i used to take 3 of my sons to the darkside, i always had them fill their waist pack with snacks that wouldn't melt.
feed them right before we got to the parks, and then would do a nice filling lunch in the parks........well, any place i could find chicken is where we would go.....lol
once the snacks were gone, i grabbed the pb&j out of the backpack i had.

at the end of the evening, we would eat dinner in the park, city walk or if i was short on money, i would take them to Dennys and let them fill up there on cheap food.
took my adult son in january to the darkside.
he just had to have sushi.
off to the orchard court for that, and being $70 lighter, we ended up at Jakes in the hotel around midnnight for food
my kids would always eat more when we were in a park
if i had to do those early years all over again, i would have packed a jar of peanut butter, jelly ad a loaf of bread.

looking back at it, it was a joyful time with them even when i was pulling my hair out ........anytime we sat down for a break, one of then would cry , i'm hungy, buy me food
always ended up buying thy popcorns bucket

Thanks for all the info! (And my kids always end up with popcorn too!). I'm hoping to pack lunch food/snacks/bottled water and then buy dinner. Hopefully that will work out. My kids are major snackers and they never want to sit and eat at a theme park.
