Can you borrow points and then transfer them?

Are you able to borrow points from one year, and then transfer them to another member?

I know that you can't transfer banked points, but how about borrowed?

No. You cannot transfer points that have been borrowed.

Actually, you cannot borrow points at all unless you are making a reservation that will use them.

If you want to transfer points from your next use year - call MS. The CM will help you figure out how to do it so that the recipient get sthe points in the correct use year for the reservation he/she wants to make using them. Transferred points can be banked or borrowed.

you should still be in your 2004 or 2005 use year , not your 2006. in order to use youe 2006 points or anyone else you would need to borrow those points. no you can not borrow points to transfer to another member.

Good catch! Looks like you are correct - apparently the rules on this have changed / been clarified since we puchased in 1999.

I have a somewhat related question. If you borrow points, then plans change and you can't make that particular trip. can you rent your borrowed points so as not to lose them altogether? thanks.

You can make a reservation with the borrowed points and rent that. You cannot transfer the points to another member, though.

You do not have to borrow the points to transfer them. You can transfer points from your upcoming UY. So if you are already in your 2005 UY then you can transfer points from your 2006 UY to another member.

Yes you can. Just be very clear to MS about what points you are transferring. You have to send written confirmation anyway so just spell it all out. Good luck!

Well I did transfer some 2005 points to someone and I haven't paid all the dues(I do monthly payments) on them yet..... so you must be able to???

I do not believe that is true. The OP can borrow the 2006 points and use them for a trip this year without having to first pay dues on them. I do not see this as being any different. The OP will still be responsible for the MFs when they come due next year, but the points should be able to still be transferred now.
