Can you believe Sue from survivor?

I was really surprised at her reaction. She just seems so tough. I had wondered why we weren't seeing that much of her this season.

She couldn't punch him. One of the rules is no physical violence or they are kicked out.

Why do so many people completely fall for the editing of the show. Just looking at these posts, I'm surprised so many have fallen for the 'Sue is a drama queen' and 'Sue is just after the money'. To all those who feel that way, don't you realize that it is in CBS's best interests to edit Sue in the most unflattering light?

I have no idea what happened out there. Sue did say he was rubbing back and forth on her for a couple of minutes and no one stopped him. I also have no idea if it is worth quitting the game over, or worth sueing over. But I do know that I can't use the TV version which was edited by CBS (which has the most to lose) to try to determine who is in the right. It'd be like having a trial and only listening to only one side's arguments. Of course, they will want to edit it so they look good and Sue looks like a raving idiot.

What difference would it have made to Sue if she got kicked out? She left the game anyway. And HELLO, if he was rubbing on her for a "couple of minutes" WHY would she have just stood there? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you don't have to just stand there and do nothing. At the VERY least, she could have complained to Jeff the moment anything happened. And while I'm at it, it would have been nice if CBS would have had a "no nudity" clause to go along with the "no physical violence" clause.

I agree with you since he went naked during the very first season, what did they think he was going to do this time? Where clothes?

Yep. If he was taking minutes to do that, she could have pushed him off the bar. Or she could have griped and if it didn't work, jumped off the bar herself. Please. I just don't believe her. And I'm a pushover for stuff like that.

I've not seen that episode. Last episode we had was Hatch getting voted off. Must make sure I don't miss Sue going, never was a fan of either her or Hatch.

I meant to say that they had to sign a contract and one of the rules they had to agree to was no physical violence.

No nudity I totally agree with. Hatch is gay & thinks he's God's gift to the world too. He's so sick:( I'm so glad he's gone as I really hated watching him romping around in his birthday suit & everytime there was a challenge he stripped off to nothing. No need for that at all in my opinion.

In the edited version they showed, it wasn't more than 3 seconds, and I can't imagine it could have gone on much longer than that.

yep. I figure it was the 2 or 3 seconds shown. She was surrounded by people who was nothing. Rich wasn't being sexual, just a jerk.

Part of me felt she reacted like someone who could have been molested or abused at one time....It doesn't take much to trigger past memories.....Even a few seconds and if she attached it to memories of the past it could have caused a reaction....

That said...I another part of me thinks lawsuit with CBS......

Wonder what will happen...

I agree that there must have been something in her past that may have set her off. Also, I think having all night and day to sit around and think about it probably didn't help. She seems the type not to forgive and forget (remember Kelly??)

Legally - I am not sure what waivers/contracts they sign but I think that she would have several different angles from which to pursue this. 1) Criminal battery against Richard - offensive touching 2) civil damages for emotional distress etc from Hatch and CBS 3) sexual harassment to Hatch and creating the hostile environment to CBS.

Funny thing is that if she immediately came home and filed charges or lawsuit I would think the media would have gotten a hold of the story right away - especially if she did file suit. I wonder if the confidentiality clause the players sign would have prevented her from filing as soon as she returned. Interesting. The statute of limitations would definitely not have run out yet since I believe they just did this this past summer.

Anyway that's my 2 cents.

I hope you are right. I did consider the possibility that she had been abused, but the whole thing just didn't seem right.
I can't imagine a confidentiality clause could prevent somebody from seeking legal help in a situation like this. But wanting to keep parts of the show quiet would definitely motivate cbs to settle. Then they could insist on confidentiality as part of the settlement. Did Rich make the talk show rounds after he was voted off? Let's see if Sue does.

I believe she was traumatized. During the challenge she was focused on the game and went right past it (plus my own experience tells me that shock can cause inaction). Afterward it hit her. In real life she probably would have handled it differently. She was physically run down enough that she couldn't handle it. She also didn't have her husband there to talk to. It is very hard for someone who is used to being in control to feel vulnerable and violated.

I was surprised at how she handled it, but I think after she has some food, some rest, and a chance to talk to her husband she'll be back to tough Sue. I imagine she'll be wishing she had handled it differently. Do you remember how close Jerri was to cracking up a few weeks ago? It wouldn't have taken much to send her packing at that time, but now she's fine.

I would agree with disykat. I believe it happened so fast she didn't know what to do. I guess I'm kind of surprised at all the negative reaction that you are giving to her situation. You somehow think because she is a tough person that nothing should phase her. Well, she has feelings too, and what does being a truck driver have to do with anything? Does that mean she can't feel embarrassed or violated when someone does such a grotesque thing to her....on national television, nonetheless.

I am also wondering why this "violation" is being taken so ho-hum by everyone. Do you consider it all in fun? How many of the husbands here would like their wives treated in such a way? If I were Richard, I would sleep with one eye open. There's no telling what her husband might do.

I think it's unfair to sit back in our comfy living rooms and judge how these people react in their foreign environment where they're living in extreme circumstances. There's no way we can know what Sue was thinking or feeling. I'm personally giving her the benefit of the doubt. I would've left too.

Okay, so I never would've been there in the first place....I'm a wuss! ::yes::  :wave2:

I think CBS was wrong to not insist he put his clothes on. I thought this was a family show. I did not care for what Hatch did.

Sue & Rich are both going to be on The Early Show soon. Should be interesting to see what they say.

I was surprised that she left the show. She always seems so tough, it was the last thing I expected. I think she has a right to be upset, what Richard did was disgusting, but she should have just said her piece and went on with the game.

Oooo, if they are both on this morning, will somebody watch and post what happens?

Last week on the Early Show, Richard did mention that he was naked more in the first season than what they showed (I just recall him being in his birthday suit on his birthday). Since he and Sue were in the same tribe then, I'm sure naked Richard wasn't anything new to her.

Neither Sue nor Richard are innocent in this. I don't think Richard intended anything beyond continuing the banter that he and Sue have had. I may be wrong, but I don't think he would've tried that schtick with any of the others, female or male. (although had he tried it with Rob M. Rob probably would've punched him and been kicked out). Still, he did go over the line.

Sue could've easily avoided the confrontation. She could've gone on the first beam she tried. She could've turned her back as he passed on the platform. She should've known that he was doing challenges naked to psyche out the other tribes.

Jeff and the producers aren't innocent either. They should've instituted a rule that, in challenges involving physical contact between the tribes, that all tribesmembers must be clothed.

Someone mentioned this earlier -- we don't know if there was something in Sue's past like a sexual assault that this triggered and brought a wave of memories and emotions to the surface.

In any event, Sue will be on the Early Show tonight, and I think they said Richard will be there also. Ought to make for an interesting segment.

I wish that they would have let Jeff have his say last night. At the begining of the challenge, before Sue went ballistic, it looked like he had something to say. Now we will never know.
