Can you be TOO up front w/ your guide?

We were at DW last weekend and I spent two days looking at DVC's. When you make an appointment at SR you will see two models and two models only.
AKV and BLT. They will not drive you around to the other resorts. You CAN look at the BWV models on the Boardwalk side of the hotel. If you go to Epcot you can leave for a bit, see the models and go back to Epcot.

The other time I spent driving around to ALL the resorts and looking at them on my own. BLT does have their own models as does AKV (although I didn't see them). No models for BCV, VWL, OKW or SSR.

Incentives you ask? Bupkiss this time around. I was offered a March UY with
'09 points for the pleasure of buying BLT at $115/point (120 - $5 incentive). They also offered AKV at $102 ($112 - $10 incetive) and VGC at $97 ($112 - $15 incentive). Now, if you don't mind a Dec UY you might be able to con 2008 points along with 2009 and 2010 points.

We told the salesperson we weren't ready to purchase yet and he said that was fine. We had no problem with the rep, he was very cordial and I told him we'd look him up if we bought thru Disney.

I was only hoping to see the AKV and SSR rooms anyway. I am surprised you couldn't see anything for SSR? I would expect you t be able to see an actual room since you are there ya know? Or was that just the individual resorts didn't have their own models? AND I suppose we could see the BLT since we're there. So sounds like I'll be fine.
But it doesn't sound like the incentives are good ATM. That's okay, if they aren't when we get there, and not on the ship either, we'll wait. I'm in no hurry. I'm going to be particular about my UY too. we go in Nov-Jan and I'm not looking to get hosed there.

Won't the original Guide get the "credit" regardless? I'm pretty sure this is the way DVC has always worked. They'll (the original Guide) know that too. Just knowing you intend on buying but not right there might make all the difference in the world in the way you are treated given those circumstances are true.

This is correct. So it really doesn't matter. Your Guide will get the credit anyway

Well, true to form, I spilled all the beans and just told him our situation, plans and scoop. I was calling to set up our appointment in a few weeks anyway and just decided to be completely up front so he knew we wouldn't be signing on teh dotted line in his presence that day. He was totally cool w/ all of it and actually recommended me buy onboard right now if we were inclined becuase he said they have something extra right now that he couldn't offer me. I don't know what it is though. I asked to see if he'd still get the credit and he said "yes". So I'll be meeting w/ him alone to see the 3 models I wanted to and he knows what they are and I'll be back to the resort lickety-split in time for dinner.
