if you don't like where they put you?

like if it's too far from the main building or you don't get the view you were expecting

we're going to the FQ and have reservations for a premium river view but not sure what that actually means since we don't know what the rooms/views look like to begin with.

i do remember that some of the "river" views at OKW were better then others

Yes, you can ask at check-in.

During our last trip at Pop we were given a room in the 90s section (ready at noon when we checked in). I politely asked if there was anything available in the 70s. The CM was able to change us to the section we wanted, but the room was not available for a few hours.

Absolutely, you can ask. But be prepared if they say there is nothing else available. Out of the few times we asked, only once were they not able to fulfill our request to change rooms. And once, we had to wait until the following day. All of our stays were at POFQ and they did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. :dance3:

If I paid for a premium view, I would definitely let them know that I would like another room.

Well, since there's no such thing as a premium view at any Walt Disney World Moderate resort...

It seems the OP has reserved and paid for a water view room. The three options at POFQ, POR, and CSR are Standard (view), Water view, and King bed. The latter two are - at least during value season - $15 more per night than standard view. King bed obviously means the room will contain a single king-size bed.

Water view simply means that when one opens the door, or looks out the window across the public walkway, or steps outside the room, one will have a view of permanent water. It could be a lake or a fountain (CSR) or a river (POR/POFQ), or a pool. The Guest can request a specific water feature, and the resort will try to accommodate, and yes, if you're not happy (within reason) they'll change your room if possible - but if you can see water from outside your room, technically they've fulfilled their part of the deal.

yes - we reserved a king water view. We've never stayed there but have passed it on the boats

A water view means you can see water from some point out your window or from your front door. It doesn't mean that you gaze out your window from your bed and have a river or lake view.

My husband insisted on a water view at POFQ when we stayed there. We only saw a bit of the river that goes by POFQ if we stood on the walkway outside our room.

Yes, when we were at POFQ in 2008, our room was in the furthest building from the feature pool and we had requested to be close to the pool. So, I simply called the front desk and told them we wanted to switch and they said sure, no problem. Within an hour, we were in our new room and headed out to go swimming!

Do you mind if I suggest that you double-check that? This is the first I've heard of anyone being able to reserve TWO upgrades. Water view is an upgrade; king bed is an upgrade. My understanding has always been that you can reserve one and request the other - but not reserve both?

Don't know about POFQ, but I know for a 100% certain you can do this at CBR. You reserve 2 types and pay for 2. (as in twice the $15,- during value season).

Yes, you can change. My parents arrived after we had been at Coronado Springs for 3 days. We had it on our reservations that they were to be in the room next to us. Unfortunately, their guy didn't put it on their reservations (different travel agent as they live 800 miles away). So when they checked in they were across the resort. They had paid for a king bed, too. They were great and cleaned the room next to us right away and called them to let them move in to their room by 11am (they were sitting in our room waiting). It was seamless and the people there were great about it. I don't see any harm in asking when you get there if you don't like where you are.

As far as I know, this is correct.

When you select a moderate resort with 1 or 2 guests in the room, on Disney's own booking engine, all moderates will come up with:

Standard View
Water View
King Bed

Caribbean Beach may also offer Preferred Rooms, and Pirate Room (both standard view and water view). Coronado Springs may also offer club level and/or some suites. Everything is always subject to availability.

If you select King bed rooms at any of the moderates or the Preferred category at Caribbean Beach, the room description states:

King Bed Rooms:

All rooms have a king-size bed, table and chairs, vanity area with 2 sinks, a ceiling fan and a bathroom. All rooms are non-smoking. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, high-speed Internet access (additional fee), hairdryer, iron, ironing board, mini-fridge and coffee maker. A crib is available upon request. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. These rooms offer views of the lake, pool, courtyard, woodlands or Resort hotel.

or:

Preferred Rooms:

All rooms have 2 double-size beds, table and chairs, vanity area with 2 sinks, a ceiling fan and a bathroom. All rooms are non-smoking. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, high-speed Internet access (additional fee), hairdryer, iron, ironing board, mini-fridge and coffee maker. A crib is available upon request. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. These rooms offer views of the courtyard, woodlands or Resort hotel.

I've booked a bunch of King Bed and Preferred Rooms and have NEVER been able to guarantee a water view.

If you've been able to do that, please let me know how! I've only ever been told that in King Bed rooms at any moderate and preferred rooms at Caribbean Beach, a water view was on a request-only basis. :confused3

oh - i just assumed that we'd get a river view - it's in the discription

King-size bed
Table and chairs
Vanity area with 2 sinks
Ceiling fan
Privacy curtain between the vanity and room
Bathroom
All rooms are non-smoking
In-room wall safe
Voice mail
High-speed Internet access (for an additional fee)
Hairdryer
Iron and ironing board
Mini fridge
Coffee maker
Pack 'n Play playard is available upon request
Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available
Views of the Resort hotel, landscaping, courtyard, garden, riverfront or Doubloon Lagoon Pool

You can ask to be moved, but if there is nothing to be moved to you will be stuck in that room, especially true during peak travel times when the resorts are booked solid. Waterview does not guarantee riverfront view.We saw a teeny sliver of water from our window if we snaked our head around and it was considered waterview.

I would read what I bolded again. It does not say you will have a riverview, it says that your may have a view of any of those things listed. :headache:

Views of the Resort hotel, landscaping, courtyard, garden, riverfront or Doubloon Lagoon Pool

hotel = parking lot
landscaping = bushes partially blocking the parking lot
courtyard = walking pathways
garden = landscaped, open areas of grass
riverfront = your room is located in a building near the river
Doubloon Lagoon = the main pool

I know it's already been answered but yes, we were moved at the WL when we got a ground floor room and within the first 5 minutes of being in our room, there were at least half dozen people walking by looking INTO the room. I want natural light in my room, I'm not keeping my curtains closed just because some people can't keep heir eyes out of my room.

I've never actually read the room details before and have to laugh at Disney's descriptions of room views... way to cover all basis! :rotfl:

I certainly wouldn't assume that a "river view" room is a given based on that description.

If it's something that your would like, simply request it and ask about your room location upon check-in. We never walk away from the check-in desk without a general idea/description of where our room is located.

If the location is not what you "want"... politely ask if there's anything else available or "a room with a river view" like you requested. Worst case they say no, but there's no harm in asking. :thumbsup2

I made the mistake of assuming that a King room would at least have a nice view. This past Sept/Oct my King room at CSR was on the top floor, Casitas 2, facing the parking lot. I had paid for a King room and requested bottom floor in the Cabanas. When I asked to be moved anywhere in the Cabanas and even offered to give up the King room to make it happen, I was told that it wasn't possible for that night, but might be available the next day. The next morning I was moved to a first floor room in Cabanas 8A with two queen beds. This was the last few days of Sept-first week of Oct, so not a busy time.:confused3 I've also had a king bed at POFQ that was in building 4, facing the parking lot, so don't make the mistake that just because you paid more for a King room that it will be in prime location.

If you read it again, just as SnackyStacky (and plutolovr, I see now :)), your room's view will be of ONE of these - not necessarily the river.

Hey, not fair! Some rooms actually DO face other buildings!
