Can ya dance to "Stairway to Heaven?

Poll Coming..... but here is why I am asking. I am DJing a school dance and that song was already requested. I have it, and I'll play it if they want. But it really doesn't strike me as a great "dance" song.

But with the resurgance of teen boys loving Led Zeppelin, I guess it is quite popular now.

Aaah, Stairway. Yep, you can slow dance to it, believe it or not. When I went to the 8th grade dance I danced with someone for the whole length of the song. Too bad it wasn't the guy I had a crush on at the time. Yeesh, that was 13 years ago! Time flies I guess, LOL.

Yep we danced to it. It was a nice long butt grabber . I recall it being standard fare at every dance I went to or played at in the 70's.

That was teh theme song at one of my proms--yes, it was a LONG time ago.

We would start off slow dancing then switch to fast. It was played at least once at every casual dance night, semi-formal, homecoming, and prom I attended in HS.

Are you kidding? When I was in high school it was THE song to slow dance to if you had the right partner because it lasts forever!

Honestly - at the junior high and high school where I grew up - this was the last song of the night. And it was THE make out song. If you were lucky enough to have had a BF/GF - you danced with person and were sure to suck face almost the entire time . Or if there was a certain someone you were trying to as they say now-a-days, "Hook Up With", this was the song for you to ask or hopefully be asked by... Granted this was 15+ years ago... Mony Mony by Billy Idol is another popular song athe the dances. ...But more so for the swear-word chants that took place, not the making out factor. But thats a whole 'nother story!

I personally dont think you can dance to it - too slow of a beat and ...its so freakin long!!

isn't this standard end of the dance song to play?!!? every single jr high and high school dance ended with this song!! (the sad thing is dh and i just went and helped out at the last jr high dance, and it is still being played as the last song of the night.....the only thing is the kids are soooo much younger then we were then, lmao)
