Our magic bands are en-route! YAY! I want to decorate them, and have seen SO many photos of these amazing works of magic band art. Not sure I can recreate all of the awesomeness I have seen...:artist:

For those who have decorated their bands before:

How well did your paint stay on? Did you just use nail polish or actual acrylic paint?

Is it more comfortable to make a fabric cover and paint THAT, or are wearing the bands as-is comfortable all day long?

Our colors are going to be Gray, Red, Pink, and Green... still looking for inspiration on how to decorate, so any suggestions are welcome!

We bought some decals from Etsy but if you don't want to spend additional money and feel like being creative :) I have seen videos and blog posts of how to paint them and what kind of paint to use. I remember one person used acrylic paints but said to make sure you put some kind of clear coat sealer over it otherwise it will wear off.

The thread posted above will be the best source of information, but it is a lot to go through - especially the beginning when people were experimenting.

For mine, I put on a coat of base coat nail polish, painted with acrylic paint, and coated again with the nail polish. In the 5 months since with pretty intense wear, there is only some minor cracking in the paint where the band bends, but that took several months to appear. I've even had the characters sign it and painted over their signature with polish and it's doing pretty good.

The brand you use to coat with seems to be pretty important, and the thread should have info on that. I believe I used OPI. I never use expensive nail polishes on myself since I know I will change colors in a few days, but for the longevity of the band, its worth the extra expense.

I tried to decorate ours but they didn't turn out that great so I ordered my skins. We love them Got to customize them for each of us and we loved it runs 8.00 for customized and 6.00 for standard. I don't know if I can post the site even though they have a dis one on the main forum page so go to google and search customized magic band skin for the website.

I used fingernail polish and also the paint found in a pen form. Both worked well. Nail polish was 2 different kinds - clear with glitter and a shiny silver. My bands were red and grey - used glitter on red and silver polish on grey band. Used paint pen to color in mickeys head. I added clear polish to both bands the next day - haven't had a problem with it staying on. I like mine even tho they are super over the top.
