Can we link a different credit card to each magic band?

Awesome! That will totally help on our upcoming trip! Didn't know you can do that. So they track purchases in separate bins then? And then at checkout they bill the respective cards?

The cards get charged for purchases daily/every other day - at least that's what happened on our last trip. They do not wait until check out to send the charges to the credit card.

I have done this several times at several different hotels without a problem. I've done it at POP, French Quarter and Old Key West in January, May and November. Just make sure you ask at the front desk during check in, since you can't do it online.

Actually, they wait until you have met a limit. I believe it's $500 for value, $1000 for mod, and $1500 for deluxe...I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

My sister and I were there the week before Thanksgiving at Port Orleans Riverside. When we checked in, we told them that we wanted to use two separate bands and they were able to do it so anytime my sister charged with her MagicBand it went to her credit card and when I used my MagicBand it went to mine. It probably took them about 5 minutes to set it up.

Hey, we were at POR at the same time! :wave2:

For me, the room was under my friend's name and the CM said they could link my band to my credit card account. Took care of all the necessary information, and off we went...but at trip's end, the invoice reflected all my charges on her account. For us it's merely an inconvenience since I'll simply reimburse her for my charges...easy enough to figure out since they list whose band was scanned along with the dollar amounts.

So it sounds like it CAN be done but either systematically or procedurally it's not reliable...if anyone's really counting on it to work I'd test it out Day 1.

For those who had it work...did you each have a unique PIN number? I wasn't given one, and I'm wondering if that was the first clue that it wasn't set up as intended.

For us, it worked...sort of. At check in, my mom added her credit card for her magic band. She did have a separate pin from us, and all of the charges were kept separate for the entire trip. Not sure if it was the pin or not, but we were definitely able to keep things separate.

However, her magic band rarely worked when trying to buy something in a store. It kept saying she was over her limit with her first purchase each day, and she'd have to call the hotel, give her info, and they'd approve the purchase. Several trips to the front desk later, I think it worked our last day there.

I would suggest, instead of MagicBands, using Disney gift cards. I know it will be less convenient at the time to do it this way, but it would be even worse at the end of your trip if Disney doesn't do your charges correctly.

Yeah, I'm going w ppl who haven't been for 20 years, so I want them to enjoy the bands, not have to manage GCs.

The good thing is that even if the charges are all going to one person, the list clearly shows who made each charge so it's pretty easy to fix.

Cool. That's all that matters to me. I don't want to have the "ok who bought this $4 snack" conversation. As long as it's clear who owes what, even if it all gets charged to my card, we're good.

If I try to spend more than my limit it will not let it go through. It all sounds great....if it works. I will still be watching my spending :scared:. 1 more week......1 more week! :cheer2:

Awesome!! :goodvibes For me... 1 more year... 1 more year. Well less than a year now I guess by a few days.

My friend and I had different PINs, but it still didn't work. Still charged everything to one card (hers). Go figure!

Yes, we did this when we were there 3 weeks back, there were three different adults staying in one room, and each of us had our own card linked to our bands.

There was a little confusion, but I think it's because one of us came in later in the day and they reset all to one card, but we went down to the concierge and they fixed it.

We each had our own PIN number. They set both of our PIN numbers when we checked in (I'd forgotten what I'd put in as a PIN when I'd done the online checkin).

This is the answer. You can ask to have it done...but make sure you check to see if it was actually done successfully BEFORE you check out, or you may end up having everything charged to one person and having to settle up.

I had an incident once where I couldn't charge with my band at all (fortunately I was carrying cash and a credit card) and it turned out that the resort had mistakenly set my charging limit at 0 rather than whatever the regular amount is for a moderate resort. Apparenty it wasn't the first time they'd done that either, as the cashier at AK said to check for that at the resort.
