Hi there...we are looking to fly into Orlando early on the morning of Thurs. 7/27 and stay at HRH until Saturday AM 7/29. We then depart for a cruise from Port Canaveral.

We would most likely get to one of the parks mid afternoon (I am thinking 2pm ish) and then would have all day Friday for the parks.

We have been to Universal/IOA 2 times before and our children are 11 and 6. (back in 2001 and 2003)

I am thinking with Front of line access and the fact that we have been there before and some rides/attractions we could skip some....

Your thoughts??

I did just that this past November. We arrived at HRH around 11:00a Friday after Thanksgiving and headed to Universal studios by 12:00p and did everything we really wanted to do...but we didn't do everything we've done before. We ran to Mummy first since it was new. Wait was not bad at all. We also did MIB, ET, Beetlejuice, and Star Tours off the top of my head. We didnt do some like Jimmy Neutron or Shrek cause we didn't really like them.

Then on Saturday we got to IOA at opening and got SO much done before it got crowded. We did all of Suess Landing practically alone. DD and I ran to Dueling Dragons and rode it two times in a row with no wait. Then she rode it again with DH. Later that day it was at least an hour wait but in the morning it was DEAD.

We did everything we wanted to do and then some.

I say it's very possible to do what you want to do in a day and 1/2.

If you could fly in the night before, and stay at an offsite hotel across the street, it would make your visit "feel" longer. Offsite ideas are here.

Best Western would work nice, free breakfast, clean, cheap.

You would check out of the off site hotel early at 7am, take a cab ride over to the HRH (or heck, you could even walk), and check in. If your room is not ready, you get your magic keys and go tour a park.

The line for check in will be long at 2pm when you arrive. If you stay off site the night before, then check in early at 7am, only a few people will be waiting. The hotel will hold your luggage, and you can even visit the pool in the afternoon if your room is not ready.

If you can't do this, then the good news is that the parks stay open until 10pm, so you'll have a few hours to visit. But I wouldn't be surprised if you show up at 2pm, check in line is long, and your room is not ready until 6pm. You may even get bumped if it's the HRH. Don't mean to scare you, but it's happened to others. If you do show up at 2pm, I'd call the hotel before leaving, and from the airport and keep asking if they have a room. You are going at the busy time of the year. They'll over book the hotel and send the extras elsewhere.

yea robvia, i got bumped once to pbh from hrh when it overbooked.

and they took off the charge for the room for the first night.

then moved me back to the hrh at 7:30 the next morning.

the only think i liked was the free nights stay.
