Our contract has DH and my name. I would like to add DS (21) because he is going to school in Orlando. I would like him to be able to use the perks and pick up his AP without one of us being with him. I emailed DVC but haven't heard back from them yet.

It's a deed change and will be at a cost. If he's going to school in Orlando won't he be able to qualify for FL resident prices?

Technically no because he isn't a resident. His permanent address is still NJ on his license.

I'm surprised that a college issued ID card isn't allowed but I've never really looked into it. I'm pretty certain I've spoken with college students at DL who were able to get the So. Cal pass even though they were not from there.

From website - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/florida-residents/validation-requirements/

Florida Resident Tickets:
Proof of a Florida residential address is required. For each adult ticket purchased, you may provide any of the following:
•Valid Florida driver's license
•Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
•Valid Florida-based military ID

The persons who will use the Florida Resident adult tickets must be present at the time of ticket pick up. If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):
•Monthly mortgage statement
•Florida vehicle registration or title
•Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
•Automobile insurance policy or bill
•Utility bill
•Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
•Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency

Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not.

I believe only Club Members (purchasers - those named on the deeds) are entitled to DVC benefits. Adding a new name to the deed requires a new deed to be filed and that must be done through member services.

I know, that is why I want to add him to the contract. Anyone know how much it costs to change the deed?

If you do it all yourself the cost would be under $50 for a single contract. The cheapest I know to get someone else to do it is around $150 and even then I think you have to get the ROFR yourself. DVC's option was $450 but I'm thinking it may have gone up some recently from the indirect info I've seen. The other question is whether it's worth it. He becomes a legal owner and if he had any financial issues, the DVC contract would be at risk as well as it would be an asset for FAFSA though I know some don't list it. If there are multiple contracts either you must do each one for more cost or they become legally separate contracts. This process will take maybe 2 months to complete.

Can I just put him on one of the contracts? I'm not sure it's worth the cost just to get him the perks and so he can pick up his AP himself (it's not like I need an excuse to go down and visit him LOL).

Sure but that contract becomes totally separate. You could not directly use those points with your other contracts. You're probably better off putting your time and any money toward getting him to qualify for FL resident discounts.

Just finished moving my daughter to two of our contracts. Disney doesn't do it anymore plus they wanted about $350 to do at one time when I asked. We went with the title company that handled our purchases and they charged a standard fee of $150 per contract. Don't have to get ROFR, just a Quit Claim from Disney stating that there is no money being changed hands. All in all the process was very smooth.

Just a reminder, that once you add someone to your membership, it becomes their asset, just like it is yours. That means they could have a lien placed against it, it could be considered community property in a divorce, and it could be taken to satisfy debts if they declare bankruptcy. I'd rather pay a little extra for my 20-something to have an AP

Turns out he won't need it after all. He started working as a CM on Saturday so he will not need his AP anymore. Saves me $419!
