I hope this isn't a double post because I tried to post this before but it seems to be lost in the cyberspace void. This was inspired by leebee's post about not staying a full week when you've won a week at a timeshare through Skyauction. We, too, won a week at Silver Lake but will only need four nights. I would like to "give" the room to my brother and neice for the remaining three nights, but I don't know if it's possible. I'm not trying to make any money or do anything illegal. I just think it's a shame for that room to go unused for three nights when we have paid for them. My brother doesn't have much money and would love to take his daughter to Disney for a couple of days, and a prepaid villa for 3 nights would sure help him out. We won't be leaving on our departure day until about 3:00, so I was thinking as long as he arrives before we leave we could just hand him the key and the people at Silver Lake would probably never even know. But I don't want to get myself or my brother into trouble by breaking some kind of occupancy law. Does anyone know if this is doable? Should I call Silver Lake directly and ask them? No flames please - I'm not trying to take something I didn't pay for, I'm just trying to do something nice for someone. TIA.

I would think as long as you list your brother on the reservation, it would be fine. Be aware, that any damage that occurs even when you are not there are your responsiblity. That said, we have done this several times, and have not had any trouble. It's your week and you can use it how you please. We have always been honest and made it clear that we would not be there for the full time, but others in our party are staying on... ( even if they are just arriving when we leave). And we have always been told that we are resopnsible for damages since it was our credit card used for the deposit.

I have to agree with Melynny, just put his name on the ressie & you are all set.

Thanks for the answers - I feel a lot better about this idea now.

I 3rd that. We own at Vistana and we're letting my bil and his family stay there for the week (they also have never been to WDW due to money issues). We just wanted to do something nice for them. When I called Vistana to book it, I did explain what I was doing and they said it was fine. They just wanted my bil and sil's names to put on the reservation. Hope u both have a great vacation. :cool1:
