I had back surgery three months ago. We will be staying at The Dolphin. It seems like Scooterbug is the most recommended place to rent from but they do not deliver to The Dolphin. Second best place to rent from? Thank you.

Gold mobility. Luckily you are at Swan so they’ll drop off/pick up with Bell Services.

Since it’s first time on an ECV don’t be afraid to take it for a spin in the esplanades area between Swan and Dolphin and the pools. My ECV user felt that gace him a much better feel for steering, speed etc before jumping off the deep end trying to board a boat or something.

My first time using a scooter I was staying at the Swan. It was great having all of that space to drive around and practice. I went from the Swan to the Boardwalk and back.

Scooterbug, like other vendors, can drop off at the Dolphin. The name is Walt Disney World Dolphin, look under W.

Scooterbug is an excellent choice, if you're booking an ECV with SHORT NOTICE AND Scooterbug is the very vendor with availability.

Other vendors offer scooters with more options and in better condition for a competitive price. Gold gets much better reviews on DIS.

This is one of those times when I really miss Mamabunny-she has such an excellent post for first time scooter users. One thing I can say is that when (notice I say "when", not "if") you have a question while you're on the scooter, don't hesitate to just "scoot" up to another scooter-user and ask them. I found that others on scooters are very polite and quite willing to help first time scooter-users.

Did the scooter for the first time last year and stayed at the Swan and dolphin I don’t remember which one.. I was horribly nervous and it was the first time I had used one, but it was definitely require. We’ll just say my hands and feet don’t work well. Not only was it fun I enjoyed it after I got the hang of it my opinion scooter around Echo Lake once and you’ll be a pro

Driving a scooter really is fun, but you must remember that each scooter comes with its own built-in cloak of invisibility. Once you have familiarized yourself with the operation of the device and the handy accessories which may be included and you are ready for your pubic debut, the invisibility function will kick in. Disney cast members are immune to the effects and can see you, thankfully. Your fellow guests cannot see you.

That is the only reason I can fathom for the hundreds of guests of ALL ages who will constantly step in front of you as you carefully navigate your way around. Some may lean on the arm or back of your seat, even as you sit in it. They may push forward and stand directly in front of you during a parade or show. Yes, this happens! Go slow, keep your eyes open, and use patience and a sense of humour as your shield.

So true, even the leaning on the seat!

So true!!!! I look at it as being an unwilling participant in multiple games of chicken. People will look right at you, not see you, and then dart out into your path.

I've reached the point where I try to educate people nicely. As in, "you would have no reason to know this, but we can't brake and stop immediately. I have real concerns that when someone steps into the side my scooter, or stops right in front of me, that I might accidentally hurt you (or your child). Please help me to keep you safe." That is, until a burly 6 foot plus man who does not have a service dog walks right into me from in front! At which point I asked if I was invisible or he was important, and who he planned to blame if his direct approach resulted in an injury to either of us.

My worst experience was in the Magic Kingdom in the large walkway behind Star Traders going towards the teacups. I was at the parks with my sister, so I was scooting and she was walking on my right. A woman holding hands with her child were a bit ahead of my on my left. All if a sudden he broke out of her hold and darted right in front of me. I was so surprised I screamed as I let go of my lever. She ran across, grabbed him, and yelled at me I'm Sorry! Not nicely at all, like I was trying to hurt or scare her child. I was shocked, said nothing, and as I was sitting there trying to gather myself she yelled it at me again I'm Sorry! Good gravy.

I have graduated from an ECV (scooter) to a power wheelchair but still use this plan for traveling in a heavy crowd area - find a Dad pushing a big double stroller and follow discretely in his wake.

I would also recommend, if you are planning on going to DS, to go on a weekday and during the day. Crowds are much lower so you do not have to worry as much as people cutting in front of you. I literally just got back last night and my mom uses an ECV. I do try to walk in front of her and I joke about putting my hands out like I am a kid being an airplane! However, many people do not care and will walk right in front of you, as stated. You will love the basket and all things you can bring in it without carrying it!
