Can this be done??

We have an upcoming 12 night split stay in 2 bed lockoffs...the first 5 nights at SSR and next 7 nights at BCV....when we booked we were suppose to be 8 people for the entire stay....my brother informs me that he will have to leave after we check out of the SSR due to work (very demanding job) so now its just the 4 of us.....we really don't need a 2 bedroom....we have one reservation number for the SSR and another for the BCV....since its a lockoff I know the room could be split into a studio and one bedroom but would I be able to get another confirmation number so I can rent either the studio or the one bedroom that I don't need?
Sorry if it sounds confusing but hopefully someone understands what I'm saying?

No, because lock-offs take less points than a separate one bedroom and studio, they can not be split for separate parties as separate reservations, the room key/magic band would open both exterior doors.

If I call MS can I cancel and rebook just the 1 bed or studio or will I lose it totally? If I can't do that since I do have enough points for the difference can I just rebook both separately?

I would call them and ask. It used to be they would only allow it if there was a 1 bedroom or studio available. But there was a posting within the last 6 months or so where they allowed the split without availability. May have been a one time case, you can only call and ask.
