Can the Epcot shops ship wine?

I used to bring my Dad home 2 bottles of Gluhwein from Germany every year and had to stop after the restrictions started for carrying liquids on planes. I'll be going down for Thanksgiving and would love to surprise him with some for Christmas. Does anyone know if the wines can be shipped? If so has anyone done it and did they arrive safely?

The other option I was considering was bringing an extra suitcase to pack them in to get them home. I just don't want to risk packing them with my clothing and having something happen. Has anyone done this?

I do believe there are restrictions on shipping wines - but I'm not sure...

as far as packing in your luggage - that I have done - ask when you buy the wine for their package materiels - they have some good strong paper - then make sure you have the HUGE Gallon size zip lock bags - and duct tape!

I've also brought bubble wrap too to help cushion it- and settle it inside my clothes...

German wine is hard to get at some wine stores... just went to a wine tasting, and it was special order for the German Wines - they were delicious!

There are restrictions on shipping wine out-of-state to one's residence - one of them is Florida, so no - you cannot ship wine from WDW. As a matter of fact, I believe Florida is one of those states that makes it a felony if a winery allows you to ship more than one gallon of wine, or a retailer allows you to ship any wine out-of-state, so they definately will not risk it.

Now, it is interesting, because I live in DE and we are allowed to accept shipment of one gallon of wine from a winery or you can carry wine in your car across state lines. I go to a winery in PA a few times a year. And I went to Italy a few years ago and I was able to ship back a few bottles of wine, but only from a legitimate winery and the winery had to ship for me, so it was rather expensive.

I live in Pennsylvania and you can't legally ship wine to a consumer in the state (has to go to liquor store)... we have brought them back in our luggage - they packed them well in Epcot and we put the wine in with the suitcase and all was good. I will definitely take zip loc bags next month when we go... great idea!

You can also use bubble-envelopes like they sell at Office Depot, etc.

It's not available anywhere in New England (believe me I've searched) so I'd really like to surprise him. Thanks for the ziploc tip!

Depends on the state you are shipping to. Put it in a checked bag. Wrap some dirty clothes around the bottle and then secure it in a plastic bag. Finally place it in the center of the suitcase and it will be fine. I've done it many times coming from California.

I looked at where you live and MA is one of the worst states for having wine shipped in.

I knew FL had a felony law for shipping in but did not know about shipping out. I'm a wine geek here in Maryland and deal with this issue anytime I'm trying to find a wine from out of state.

As someone else indicated MA is pretty impossible to get some wine shipped into. That being said, many liquor stores will order a wine for you, if you are willing to order a case. If you live in the Lowell area, you can go to The Liqour Shoppe on Bridge St.

When I've gone on cruises I always want to bring liquor back. Most places will pack it really good for you if they know you are flying with it. As good as Disney has packed stuff to be shipped home, I'd bet they'd be more than happy to pack it well for you. I always bring a roll of bubble wrap from Wal-Mart just in case.

Then, I put the well protected bottles in plastic bags, then between layers of dirty clothes (to cushion them even more) in my luggage. I've never had a problem.

I wanted to thank everyone for the info and packing tips. I was able to successfully bring back 3 bottles of Gluhwein in my luggage with no issues! My Dad was thrilled.

Thanks for all the info. I plan on bringing back a bottle of Magicale, and two bottles of LA Cetto from the Mexico pavilion ( which was the wine we drank on our honeymoon in Playa del Carmen)

FWIW - Our Whole Foods sells the exact bottles of Gluhwein at 7.00 a bottle!
