The ban of Disney sure seems to be alive and well in this part of the world. Sorry to the other SB people, didn't mean to offend anyone.

I think it all started back when the Lion King came out on video or something...there was that scene where they claimed that the word 'sex' appears in the dust.

Around where I live it seems that the Baptists from 2 or 3 different churches frown upon women wearing pants. Which type of Baptist would that be? They are white women, if that makes any difference. Is it likely that they are Southern Baptist, but not all SB churches are that way?

It is true that the word 'sex' appears in the movie, in the scene where Mufasa appears to Simba in the clouds. I've seen it myself, so I'm sure.

Fascinating reading, for sure - but now I'm getting a little confused.. Tell me if I have this right..
There are all different variations of "Baptist" churches..
"Southern Baptist Churches" can either follow set guidelines from a higher authority or spin off and have their own rules and regulations?
And the "liveliness" I spoke of is in Pentecostal churches - not Baptist?
Duh.............. I feel SOOOOO stupid!![]()

Sounds like you're thinking more of Pentecostal or Assembly of God.
No, SB's are no more strict about music, makeup, smoking and drinking than any other Baptist Church.
A lot of singing? Not anymore or less than any other Baptist Church that I know of.
Lively? Hardly...A rousing chorus of "Just As I Am" for the Alter Call is about as wild as we get.![]()
That's pretty much it in a nutshell and I'm not at all sure that's any different than any other Baptist religion.

We have blacks and whites at my church. Baptisms in the river are optional (too cold for me!). If they boycotted Nascar we'd lose about 1/2 of our members! No shouting at my church-- if someone shouted People would probably fall off the pews! Oh, every once in a while the preacher does get a hearty "Amen!" from someone--but this is rare these days.
