for 2 sec...can't seem to find it in the manual though it mentions using it and I can't read the lcd readout( too small for my old eyes) when i push the timer button . it seems like there is only one option to me but page 94 of manual says under mirror lock up about 2 sec timer...i just read an article how 2 sec timer is good to use for macro shots to reduce shake from shutter.

I don't see an option to change it from the 10 sec factory setting

i vaguely remember a conversation on POTN about setting the mirror lockup and it automatically switched to a 2 second timer, but that's all that is available. i'd look more in depth but i'm late for a meeting.

yes in looking at the docs - all you should have to do is enable the mirror lockup and it will automatically invoke a 2 second timer when pressing the shutter release.

thanks i emailed canon and they just told me to look at the manual page i had told them i looked at already:rolleyes1... guessing the mirror lock up wouldnt do anything weird to the exposure...it just locks the mirror nothing with the shutter correct?

I have the wireless remote. It has a 2sec option. Kind of handy actually. All the benefits of a timer without having to wait for it.

that's right. typically one button raises the mirror and locks it up and then the shutter release starts the timer. after that the shutter opens and then everything closes.

with the mirror locked up, you can't see through the lens so you do all of your adjustments first then lockup and shoot. the shutter is not exposed until after shutter release is pressed.
