Was able to take advantage of the uprade from Pop the SSR. I would like to know any and all information someone would be willing to share:

Are there any slides at the pools?
What is the food like at the counter service location?
Is there housekeeping?
What should I expect in general?

etc.

Thanks

i need opinions, comments, etc. on saratoga springs, i just upgraded to there from a value resort

We love SSR! (Of course, we may be biased, we own there!) Actually are recent owners, and have only stayed there 1 time, but it was wonderful! We have 2 kids, 8 and 10- they loved it!
There are slides at the pool- a larger one for older kids, and then a handicap accessable water slide that is smaller- younger children were using that when we were there- I guess thats allowed? They also have a donald duck play area at the main pool- with those pop up water jets that kids love too! And the other smaller themed pool over in the new section that just opened (the name escapes me at the moment) has a horse race track theme and a horse water play area, where the horses can be made to squirt out water.
Artist's Pallate is the counter sevice place there, they have good food- flat bread pizzas and things, sandwiches, we had some good meals there- we also enjoyed the Turf Club grill the sit down restaurant there, very good food also.
You will have daily housekeeping, because you will be on a regular cash reservation so don't worry about that!
If you are in a 1 bedroom, you will have full kitchen stocked with what you need, and a washer/dryer right in your room- VERY convenient! If you are in a studio- the washer/dryers are never too far away, and are also free of charge.
It is a great resort, I think that you will really enjoy it- there is a pool table in the main check-in building, by the Turf Club that we enjoyed. There is also a Community Hall and when you check in you will receive a paper that lists all of the activities going on such as pottery making, towel animal making and things like that. In Community Hall there is also a ping pong table, a few computers, board games that you can take back to your room or play there and a big Tv. They also have movies at the main pool in the evenings.
The quiet pools in each area are open 24 hours and they all have hot tubs too. You can rent bikes there to rida around the resort- we rented a surry bike one day and really had a good time with the kids riding it around
Anyway sorry to go on and on- I hope you have a great time there! Let us konw how you like it when you get back!

I just copied this from what I wrote in response to the other question like this- if you have any other questions- just ask!

You lucky dog! You will LOVE SSR :).

The main pool is great: zero entry with a slide and two hot tubs. There are also 2 or 3 quiet pools. My DD lived the one near our room just as much as she liked the main pool. The food court has a limited menu, but good food. I assume that since you are not using DVC points you will have daily housekeeping.

We are also fortunate to the free upgrade from POP to SSR in a 1 br villa. We are so excited!! We're not used to these deluxe resorts. Do they have the refillage mugs there? We just bought the YOMD mugs @ POR in May.
Any info will help.
Thanks,
Mousiemom

Mousiemom...did you get a 1BR or a Studio? Most of the free upgrades were to studios...so if you got a 1BR you are REALLY lucky!!

i didnt even know that they were upgrading to 1br, i thought all were to studios

Thanks so much for the responses. But, I have more questions. What kind of things do they stock your kitchen with?
We are in a one bedroom so is their an ice maker there?
Also will I need to bring detergent with me?:laundy:
Are there elevators in every building?

I am getting more and more excited by the minute. Who knows if I really like it I may even buy in.

they don't stock groceries unless you ask for them and pay for them.

it has all the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utilities that you need.

no ice maker - but at the bus stop or quiet pool - which ever is closer there will be a big ice machine.

only OKW has an ice maker in the refrigerator.

definitely bring your detergent - they do have detergent - out with the laundry mat next to the pools - but it is expensive.

there are elevators in each building - but the stairs (which are all over the place) are definitely quicker.

on the main pool has a slide. the other pools do not. all have a hot tub.

We are a grand gathering group of 10 in 4 different rooms--Our dates are Aug 31 to Sept 8 and we each got a 1 bedroom villa at SSR. We had already stayed at OKW and wanted to stay somewhere different!!! I am so excited!!!!

Hey, I got a 1 br villa and I also got my inlaws who are traveling w/us a 1 br villa! Yes, we are very lucky and we are going to enjoy every moment of this trip!!! I still can't believe it!!

We stayed at SSR for the first time last month. We had the "studio" and it was very, very nice. I think you'll enjoy it.:earsboy:

I got upgraded to three 1-br villas at OKW, but after doing a little research I switched to three 1-br villas at SSR. It looks awesome! I'm so glad to hear the building all have elevators, because my brother just had a knee replacement and I have issues with descending stairs due to pelvic arthritis (and we are both uner 32!) so that was a huge deciding factor. I'm so excited about this upgrade and want to learn as much about SSR as I can!

Do they have an internal bus system to get to the main building? If so, is that separate from the buses to get to the parks? I can't tell quite how that works just from looking at the maps.

The busses run in this order, Grandstand, Carousel, Paddocks, Congress Park and Springs.

The Springs is the bus stop directly across from the main area which includes both food areas, check in, shops, the Spa, and the main pool. So you can take any bus from any location and simply get off when it comes to the Springs stop.

Thank you Sammie, that is EXACTLY what I wanted to know! One more question, if you want to get from the main building back to your room, it doesn't sound like you can take a bus? So if you're having dinner at the restaurant and then want to go back to your room, would you have to walk even if you're all the way on the other side of the resort? This place looks HUGE, that would be a problem for us.

It looks larger on the maps than it seems to me. I have to ask if walking the resort is a problem what do you do at the parks.

There is an internal bus, but it does not run as often as the busses going to the parks do. But yes if you take a park bus to the Springs, unless you can catch the Internal bus you have to walk back.

We did not find the walks to be that bad.

We just got the free upgrade from ASMU to SSR!

Is there a blender?

Will they hold groceries from Gardengrocer for me?

Do you take paperplates, napkins, papertowels, Kit towels, dish soap, dishwasher det.?

Is the fridge a full size one?

How the buses?

We wanted to do a pool day on our last day. Do they have showers by the pool?
