I have no transportation from disney to port. I'd love a car rental, or a town car but I can't get a decent price.

Nov 8 mco arrive 740 pm. Stay at okw
Nov 9 port c 7 night cruise
Nov 16-23 okw

I can give up my okw. ( we are dvc) and book a hotel at port with parking if it is cheaper to keep a full size car for the duration.

I currently have a one way van rented for 68$ from mco nov 8 return to port c nov 9th. Nothing for way home. I'm stressing. Please help me with a rental. The dcl bus sounds good but it gets there too late and I want to attend the dvc party.

I'm a costco and caa (aaa) member if that helps for rates. I'm not packed. I haven't made the dine plan vs no dine plan yet. I've dropped the ball on this one.

Which DVC party? On the ship? Going by my experience, even with getting to the ship in time to walk on and hear the announcement that rooms are ready at 1:30, we have always made the DVC celebration thing. (which is a sales pitch with prizes and alcohol) While we've only been on the Dream, not the others, it would be really odd if they scheduled something for DVC people before the DVC people could get there.

How big of a group are you?

I read somewhere the dvc party was at 2 pm. I thought we would miss it and it would be rusty getting on the ship tht late. We are a party of 4 I looked at happy limo but it was 320 return plus tips which was more than I was willing to pay. Should have stayed at the Hyatt but they are now booked up. First cruise booked a couple months out and too many decisions and I made the wrong ones lol. Next time I will book Hyatt.

Did you try Budget with the Costco contract id (W852802 or W852825)? There is a $25 coupon code (MUWZ107) that you can use, also.

I think Dollar has had some pretty decent rates too. We are on the same cruise!

We always use dollar I checked the city specials but they were crazy for one way drop off. 130$ for a car for one day mco to to port. I will try the codes now thanks.

Ice cube got my one day rental down. He got me a great rate for the way back too but I made an error and it I actually need it a day shy of a week so can't use the weekly coupon. Can I just return it a day early but pay for the week?

yes its ok....especially helps out if you are for example picking up the car at 11am and dropping off at 2pm (we didn't put your exact times in) those extra few hours would be a killer but since we got the entire week your covered even though return is a day earlier...

Have a great time....

I have never rented from national or gone on a cruise. Should dh drop us at port then go to return car ? Is there a shuttle for him or does he take a cab back to port? Is it the same for the way home?

Thanks for the help

Why give up your DVC stay and have the points go into holding? Rent a car for both ways. Just be aware of one way fees and shop for the best deal. I have been on 13 Disney cruises and have never been to a DVC event on sail away day. They have always been on the first sea day. They are nothing special and are basically a sales pitch.

We arranged a shuttle with Mears that went from the airport to Port Canaveral, and vice versa. We stayed at WDW after our cruise only, but took the Mears shuttle to the airport and then just hopped on DME. I don't recall the cost off hand (it was a few years ago) but it was extremely fast and easy. Likely comparable in cost to a rental car.

To make life easy have him drop everyone and the baggage off at the port. He then can go drop off the rental and take the shuttle back to the port without anything to worry about but himself....Its easier to jump on a shuttle being one person with nothing then an entire family with baggage...I would give myself at least 1 hour of time from the moment of dropping everyone at the port to getting back....:thumbsup2

Have you priced out he various rental options? Including renting over the cruise and paying for parking.

Our recent Dream cruise it was at 2:45 and you can enter late no biggie. We go to them, even the first cruise when we took the bus, and despite a later departure were on board at 1:30 and got to get my free cheap champagne.

By really it's just a sales pitch, and having been to one last week they have honed their skills at getting to the heartstrings even quicker. I usually laugh at their efforts but the recent campaign started to get to even me. It's fun to get the goodies but don't hurt yourself to do it. :). And really I think you'll make it even with the dcl bus.

DH had never driven in the port area but was able to drop us off (including handing the checked luggage to the porters), find the port exit, find the gas station to fill up, and find the National facility. They had shuttles and he got back fairly quickly. We were able to get me and DS all checked in and ready. And they said we could have boarded but we chose to wait. All DH had to do was show ID at the port and sign something and we got onboard.

I think I did the best she going to get for a rental...one way rental nov.8-9, from mco to the port full-size all in $47.73 then taking it from the port one way keeping it Nov.16-23 (she will return on the 22nd) full-size car all in $189.34..

You mention the Hyatt, no doubt because of the bus from there?

If you don't mind something of a hassle...there's the option of getting from WDW to the airport, then taking the bus from there. You either need a rental car (and time out returning the rental and getting to the DCL transportation area) or do the process of using DME to get you to the airport at the time you want to be there (LOL, it feels like calculus to me so I've never done it), but you could do it. You don't have to stay at the Hyatt in order to take the bus from the airport.

And in case you WANT to stay at the Hyatt...directly on their site for 2 adults 2 kids I see at least one room available.

For us, when figuring out transportation, there are so many factors.

The most expedient.
The cheapest.
The one that gets us extra stuff (like using the DCL gets us baggage handling, especially when we can do onboard checkin and not see our bags until our home airport).
The one we WANT to do.

When they all combine it's great. Most of the time, though, they don't, for us. We have to figure out the best combo.

So I mentioned the above to make sure you've looked at it all. Seems you've gotten all the info now, and it's time to decide what you want. Or decide it in whatever way works best for your family dynamics and/or bank account. :goodvibes

No way am I taking me back to mco to get on dcl bus lol. I have 0 patience. Sad really! Ice cube got me a great rate so we will do the rental car. I usually have a car at wdw every year as we go to vero after and I am spoiled now. Wen like pool hopping (dvc members) and visiting other resorts.

We were going to do the bus thing this year but seeing as ice cube got me a great rate it's cheaper then The bus would have costs and I won't have to take disney transport during our post cruise stay unless we want to ( which I don't )

If the dcl busses picked up earlier from the resorts I'd have gladly paid for the bonus of not dealing with luggage but not to get to port so late.

Thanks again for the help. I feel so much better with that behind me. Now to pack!! :)

Just wanted to share that I am flying on SW tomorrow....
I checked in within 60 seconds of our flight and got boarding places C18 & C19. I am in NO Way complaining, but I was quite surprised I have flown SW TONS and only ever once got a C placement and that was because I didn't check in until I got to the airport. And I checked the flight and it is not sold out.. there are still "wanna get away" fares available (pricey but available!)
