We are leaving for our very first Disney Cruise is just 75 days. :cool1:

On our last cruise about a year and a half ago, I bought a couple of disposable underwater cameras. What a big mistake. The pics came out terrible.

Now understand I am NOT...I repeat....I am NOT a photographer of any level. I basically just bring my camera along and click away without regard of what I'm actually doing. Just looking to get a few good pictures of our vacation. LOL

Anyhow, this time I would love to get one of those Aquapac casings so I can take nice underwater pictures. This is the camera I have

And this is the Aquapac I was thinking of getting. Is this the right size? Do they work good? Are they fairly easy to use?

Plus, can you use the waterproof casing if you're just taking a regular pic, not an underwater one? I'd like to keep the casing on while at the beach, but I'm sure I'll be taking other pics outside of the water.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't own one of these but have used underwater cameras but...

If you are going to just be on the surface, say snorkeling or swimming this will probably work, is pretty inexpensive and will protect from sand and what not too. the sizing chart shows that the "Mini" case will fit the DSC-W55.

Pay attention to how deep the docs say it can go. I would be cautious when first putting the camera in the water any time the case has been opened. Keep an eye out for bubbles and leaks and if you have room in the case, something absorbent in there wouldn't hurt, just in case. Be sure to get all the sand or any other stuff off whatever seals the case. A grain of sand can cause a leak. I had a cat hair on an o-ring and had a close call! As for using in and out of the water, just make sure the water is off the lens port. Dry it is use something that will case it to sheet off...saliva works in a pinch believe it or not. I'd also recommend keeping the camera out of the sun as much as possible in the case. Hitting cool water may cause condensation. So will air conditioning.

I'd say be careful but if you see no leaks it should do fine.

Okay thanks. I'll look into getting the mini case then. I will be using it towards the surface of the water (I don't go underwater very much anyhow) Maybe to get that nice pic though.
