I know SAB is off limits but what are others that are? What about Animal Kingdom Jambo pool?

Also I heard something about having to call to see what pools are available on a certain day?

We are going to hop during our September trip and don't want to break any rules!

Thanks for the help! :thumbsup2

We can never hop to Stormalong Bay or the pools at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm not sure if we can hop to the quiet pools at Yacht/Beach, but honestly - why would anyone??? There are certain dates, always published on the member website when we can't hop to ANY pools - these are typically holiday periods.

Realistically, I don't know of anyone who calls ahead to see if they'll be allowed at the pool. As long as you're not in a blackout date I've never heard of anyone being turned away. Keep in mind if you DO call, you might get a cm who doesn't understand that dvc members can pool hop, and you'll just be told "no" and it'll be incorrect.

You can only use Animal Kingdom pools if you are staying at the resort ..:)

While I agree in principle, the follow the rules, you must call ahead. It's just as likely to be told yes and be turned away when you arrive as well. I do know of people who were turned away or later asked to leave due to capacity issues.

Theoretically one can PH to every Disney hotel (Swan, Dolphin are not Disney) except those at AKL/V and YC/BC where NONE of those pools are available to PH at. You must be a member or with a member and staying on points at a DVC resort plus not in a blackout time.

The pool at BLT is also off limits for pool hopping. I am not sure if that means the CR pool will be as well.

Disney Files specifically stated BLT and not CR.

Back in the old days, we did hop to SAB before it was a forbidden pool. We have hopped to WL, CS (love the Dig Site) and Luna Park. Now we just head for Typhoon Lagoon instead.

OP, as long as you aren't there for Labor Day weekend, you should be okay.

As currently shown on the members web site. I can't imagine anyone really "checks with the front desk" when arriving at another pool but I would certainly observe the blackout dates.

Pool Hopping Information for 2009

You and any Guests staying with you at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, or The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World® Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a Host or Hostess at the Front Desk of the resort hotel you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current "Key to the World" card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Stormalong Bay and the leisure pools at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. In addition, this restriction includes the leisure pools at these two resort hotels. There are no exceptions to this policy.

As a reminder, during times of high occupancy, please be mindful of the limited number of pool chairs available, and refrain from leaving towels or personal items on unoccupied pool chairs.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members and any Guests staying with them may not pool hop during the following dates*:

* July 1-5, 2009
* September 4-7, 2009
* November 23-29-, 2009
* December 12, 2009 - January 3, 2010

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

Well, good for DVC. They finally updated the info on the website (or did you get it from Disney Files like I did last time?).

Yes finally updated on DVC member site.... but... it took me 15 minutes to get logged in as they changed the home page and I could not find the member login link!

Interesting that the Contemporary Resort pool isn't mentioned specifically, only BLT. I'll bet they'll update the policy to include the CR, too. If nothing else, to at least be consistent with the other two verboten resorts.

A little OT, but did you get the survey about the website when you logged into the member site? It was rather lengthy and I told them all the problems I had at the site. Impossible to find stuff, old info, confusing, etc.

:confused3 I would never think to pool hop. Having stayed at both OKW and AKV, I found their pools to be lots of fun and can't imagine taking the time to pool hop. :blush: Maybe I am missing out on something? :upsidedow

We just stayed at BCV this last weekend. Each time we went to Stormalong Bay, they checked our KttW card and supplied us with wrist bands.
Looking at the card, it simply states "DVC Member" and the dates along with additional numbers; there is no text regarding "BCV". If these numbers reflect the resort, then I guess this is how they distinguish a DVC member staying at BCV vs. some place else; otherwise a DVC member should be able to use their pool without any problem.

Stormalong Bay, imho :woohoo:, is by far the best pool at WDW, for toddlers to adults.

The numbers are a code for the resort. This is what they're looking at when they check resort IDs at SAB - confirming that you're a guest at YC/BC/BCV.
