Okay small meltdown at my local CVS today. I had $21 ECB's, and tried to buy the $20 Charmin for $10 ECB and they refused. Saying I had to spend at least $30. They also said I cannot use ECB's for ECB deals. (WTH?) Even the manager was giving me a hard time. A lady behind me said this store is a stickler and to go up the road.

So just when I thought I understood it all, I am more confused!

I wouldn't go near that store again, they are crazy. Thankfully you do have another up the road.

You can use your ECBs to pay for things that earn ECBs. You can even do it on the same deal, for example this week you could've bought 4 Soy Joys, earned a $4 ECB on them, bought 4 more, paid with the previous $4 ECB and kept going until you purchased 20 (and left the store with a $4 ECB).

If don't mind taking the time, call 1-800-SHOPCVS and tell them what happened. They will call the store and tell them that ECBs "are just like cash" and you can spent them on anything in the store that isn't excluded (prescriptions, tobacco, etc.). Stores have discretion on whether to accept $/$$ coupons, but they can't make up conditions on what you spend your ECBs on.

I noticed that a lot of the things have price stickers on them (green dots.) Had your CVS store marked them down like that, or were those prices that you added for the yard sale? And if the CVS store is marking things down, when do they do it, and where do I look? Thanks!

The green stickers are from a yard sale I had last month. My daughter and I had the sale together. The only things I put in were my CVS stuff. I sold about half of my stock pile. I was lazy and just put the stuff back on the shelf with the prices still on them. Never know somebody else may be having a sale and let me set up a table with them. FREE MONEY

By all means go up the road to shop! When you find a good CVS that appreciates your business stick with it. I have 2 stores that will bend over backwards for me. At my favorite this week I went in to get Soy Joy bars the day after the truck ran (I was giving them enough time to get stock on shelves) and to my surprise the shelves were still empty. I asked the manager about it and she offered to check with other stores for to see if she could find me some. Yesterday I went in and she had 20 of the bars in all different flavors behind the counter waiting on me.

I also have 1 store that are not friendly at all and do not like to see me with all my coupons. My goal is to try and visit them at least once each month just to torment them. But I save all the big transactions for the good stores to help boost their sales.

This was all from a great deal from this past Christmas. On this board it is lovingly called our Christmas paper. Because one manager told someone they only had these packages at Christmas.

So I signed up for hotcouponworld.com and I got my CVS card. I've been saving the coupons from my Sunday paper, but I still haven't managed to get going with this.

Start with small transactions and get things that are free after ECB and/or B1G1 along with coupons. Don't spend more than $10 OOP on your first transaction and then start rolling your ECB's forward. I do a bunch of small transactions to build up my ECBs to get the items I really need but don't have ECB's attached.

For instance last week I started the week with $10 ECB. I did 3 trips during the week and built up my ECB's to $18. Those transactions I spent about $1.50 OOP total. Then on Saturday I bought the items I did need for $1.45 (the Charmin/Bounty deal) and ended up with $10 ECB to start this week. So for about $3 OOP I ended up with a TON of stuff and only spent $3 on the stuff I needed. Cool

Anywho, I've worked at CVS for almost a year, and I just wanted to share two things with you- If you go shopping at CVS after three on saturdays, you can buy things for next weeks and this weeks sales, because sale signs for the next week go up on saturday and are active starting at three.

Also, if you get a coupon that says its for an online purchase, a coupon that says its only good for cvs brand products or a coupon that says its good only for a purchase of $20 or more, usually you can use it for anyhing. So just hand the cashier the coupons an you'll (hopefully) get your discount!

I have been using the CVS card since it came out. Today I needed a few things and I had received an email with a $4 off $20 today only. My orignal total was $21.96, I used my $4 coupon, then manf. coupons, then some ECB coupons. I ended up paying 80cents OOP. One of my best there in a while. I make sure to only buy what I need.
I keep forgetting about the monthly flyer in the store, thanks for the reminder.

It's tricky, but you can figure it out by looking at the current ad (Sat.) and comparing what your are buying to the new ad (Sun.). If the same item(s) are on sale in the current ad, it will over-ride the new ad.

Last Sat. the ECBs for Pepsi products wouldn't print and the ECBs for Coppertone wouldn't print on Sat. (Pepsi on sale and Coppertone had the free umbrella offer). If the store won't resolve it while you're there, 1-800-SHOPCVS will not issue the ECBs because the purchase was made on Saturday. You're left with having to do a return without a receipt if your OOP is lower than the cost of the item(s).

EDIT: I had another problem on a Saturday that's notable - a razor had a $6 ECB for the current week and a $2 ECB for the new week. The manager had already discovered that the $2 ECB for the next week was printing so he had the cashier adjust the price lower by $4. I think I just talked myself out of shopping today LOL!

When I get a raincheck for an item they do not have... like the VIVa Paper towels in my case, what price are they supposed to put? The 6.99 or the after EBC price of 4.99?

Each store can decide - many put the price after ECB, some will write "free" on free-after-ECB items and a limit. Some will only put the sale price now because they've been taken advantage of by people trying to double-up in the week (getting a raincheck on Sunday and either going to another store or coming back when the truck comes in).

If it's Friday or Saturday (or the end of the month for monthly deals), I would think that most stores would write the price after ECB. I'd have the ad in hand when I asked for one.
