Can someone explain CVSing - I dont get it!

I'm annoyed with cvs right now over the quarterly rewards. I have only been cvsing since early June. So, I had only spent $17.xx in the spring quarter. I didn't receive any quarterly rewards. It is only after I called that I found out that you need to spend a minimum of $25 to receive any rewards. Why isn't this noted somewhere on their website or on the paperwork that came with my card?

I never knew that. They should make sure everyone understands that

I'm just getting started with the CVS game but it sure is fun to see how much I can save and get away with! I found an excellent CVS yesterday not too far from home-its brand new and the cashier was very friendly and helpful! I did the CG deal and got the LAshblast mascara, the Outlast lip color, and the eye enhancers for 8.99 total (got the eye enhancers free with coupon and 1.00 off the Lashblast mascara which was actually free so it really took the 1.00 off the lip color) so not too shabby.

I got other good deals but I can't remember what the coupon amounts were for so its not so easy to list them! I did spend total of over 45.00 but that was because I had to stock up on some needed items but I saved about 30.00 and earned 8.00 ECBs.:thumbsup2

For some reason I knew that so I must have seen it somewhere. I am one that usually read the fine print on everything though. I can see where it is only $.50 per $25 spent that they don't do it for less. Bummer for you though. I don't get them all the time either.

Okay how do I get the quarterly rewards! I just started this month so assume I have tillSeptember. Do I have to send in something, sign upor what!!???

They will print on your receipt kind of like an ECB. The spring quarter rewards started printing on July 1st. I would assume the summer quarter rewards will start printing sometime in early October.

Ohhh, my head is spinning; sorry guys; maybe the Texas heat is getting to me; the only coupon I had on my last receipt was a $2 ECB for my ThermWraps that I bought; and $4 off of $12.00 worth of CVS products; that's why I am so confused and why I don't think these point thingies are coming back to me; and when I go to my account it can't be printed out because they state they expired mid-June amd there is nothing to click on; that's when I e-mailed CVS and got the confusing answer; so, I think I am going to give up on my points and stick with ECB's; Argh; I'm just having more trouble with this than it's worth; I think I will go have a very cold iced tea now; Thank you everyone!

Can't imagine what could've expired mid-June, but in any case, don't worry about it. If you didn't fill prescriptions, it was just a $2 ECB, the coupon you received on your last trip is worth twice as much as that.

It's not points, it's just a dollar amount that you actually spent and you'll probably get so good at this that by the end of Summer quarter, it won't even be $50 (which is only $1 ECB).

Now that is cool! Thanks for posting this LanaJae!! Unfortunately the program is not offered in my area. But maybe soon...I hope!

I had some problems last time I visited CVS. Two of the things I bought didn't ring up on sale OR produce ECB. The first one I caught and I realized they must have had a sale tag on the wrong frebreeze so I just switched out for a different scent and it worked. The second time was for some OB tampons. I didn't catch that one until after I paid but the nice cashier just gave me the cash back for the sale price difference AND the value of th ECB.

It was such a headache. Had me wondering if it was worth it. Then I got home and unloaded my $20 worth of free stuff and realized it was!

Thanks for all of the tips. I think I am beginning to see the benefit and method to all of this madness. :) Hopefully, I will be able to keep it straight with 2 kids in tow.

Thanks again.

:cheer2:

I have to check this out. :thumbsup2

Okay, where did all the CVS'rs go? I kinda fell off the CVS wagon and haven't gone in two weeks. Is it me or have the ECB deals really gone down? There used to be so many in the brochure and now there are only a handful. I'm getting the feeling like CVS is onto our game and stopped playing ball with us. :sad1:

To me it seems like their sales always run in spurts. i had been doing it since the beginning of the year so taking some time off. i have a huge stock pile and will probably start up again once summer is over for a couple of months and stop again around the holidays.

The sales do seem to come in spurts!

Last week was a really good week, but this week is a little slow. The monthly deals for July also weren't very good but I still have been able to get quite a bit of stuff for Free or pennies!

It has been quite slow for me in the past few weeks also. I have started playing ball with Dollar General and Rite Aid too. It is taking some getting used to the RA game. They have different rules.:lmao:

I do Rite Aid too. Their deals weren't very good this week either, but I hear the first week in August is going to be a doozy! When CVS has a good week, I need to go a dozen times. I like that with Rite Aid I can just go once or twice and be done with it. BUT, it stinks putting out the money up front.....Rite Aid definitely does go in spurts too though!

The word on some of the other boards I visit is that the CVS bonanza may be over. For the first time in years there is not a valid dollars off coupon available. Those dollars off coupons was the real deal maker for me because my store let me stack them. I'd typically use a $10/50, $5/30, $4/20 and $3/15 all in one transaction, now there aren't any out there at all. Even the $4/20 coupons they used to send for updating your e-mail address with extracare they no longer send. Boo :sad2: Oh well it ahd to end sometime.

I still get a lot of free stuff from CVS. I don't need the 4/20 to break even. I do miss the days when I could add milk to my order and still pay nothing oop. Some people got an email just this week (sadly, not I). Oh, and I get lots of free stuff from the RX gift cards. As long as they offer those I will stay with CVS.

Right now:
Loreal Vive is free when you combine coupon w/B1G1 store offer & B1G1 coupon (at both CVS and Walgreen's). Get a rain check if they are oos and then you can order the coupons somewhere ;)

Next week:
Lifesaver deal (candy deal) buy $10 get $5. Life savers B1G1 plus B1G1 coupon. Should be $ maker.
Shick Intuition Razor free after $4 coupon.

Aug 3- Pert Plus free w/coupons, Poweraid Free w/coupon, Sure deoderant free w/B1G1 coupon.

I only make notes on the things I actually want. I do not do a deal just because it is free, I even skip a $ maker sometimes. Anyhow CVS is not the easy money it used to be, but it is far from dead. And yes, it comes in spurts or cycles, just like the grocery store deals. I think some people miss the free items that do not generate ECB. The ECB deals have been slim, but I am still finding enough free's to make it worth the time.
