I was told you can bring a product you bought there if you didn't like it with no questions asked?

Is this correct?

Wouldn't people abuse this?

We have returned things to Costco because they didn't fit, just didn't like them, just didn't want them and because they were broken or missing parts upon opening......they have taken everything back with full refunds and no questions asked ever. I thought you always had to have your receipt as well but just recently my husband was able to return something without the receipt. We love Costco!

Never had a problem returning anything to Costco. In fact today I am going to return a defective DVD player I bought the day after Thanksgiving. I don't have the receipt or box but I know they keep a copy of my receipts if I can give them an approx purchase date. The only thing they won't take back is a computer more than 6 months old which is a LOOOOOOng time for computers. I'll let you know how the return of this portable DVD player, minus a receipt, goes when I get home this afternoon.

I have a friend that brought back an opened salmon mousse product. She said she didn't like it and they refunded her completely. Also, if you use a Costco Amex (like I do) and you don't have your receipt they just scan your card number and put it back on your charge card. Happy Shopping!

Yes, Costco is great about returns. We returned one of those pop-up swimming pools after using it for 2 months. It busted to shreds and we brought the pieces back to Costco just to complain, but not expecting money back since we had no receipt anymore. Well, they thanked us and offered full refund, then pulled the remaining pools from their shelves, since we were one of several families that complained about the same issue!
Great customer service!

We bought one of those inflatable Christmas decorations and it had a hole in it. I took it back to Costco with no receipt and they took it back with no questions or problem. I  Costco.

I LOVE costco!!!

A new one opened 10 minutes from my house yesterday!

They have been wonderful with any return I've ever had, once a wierd tasting cheese to some fruit snacks that my niece said tasted "funny!"

Well we're back from Costco and I am exhausted but happy. The place, Edison NJ, was jammed but if you know how to get into the middle lines you can get out pretty rapidly. But I digress, they not only returned the full price on the DVD player but the money they returned to us was just enough to buy the next model that they are currently selling. So I returned an electronic item, namely a portable DVD player that didn't work, that most all stores would have forced me to buy an expensive service contract for if I wanted to bring it back, and I was able to get the newest model which is an 8.5 inch screen instead of the 8 inch I had before without a receipt... I, too love Costco  and I am envious of the lady with one 10 minutes from home. I drive about 20 miles on the NJ Turnpike from Monroe NJ to Edison NJ to get to my Costco. It is worth the trip in spades!

I also returned a portable DVD palyer. They were sooooo nice!!

Once I had a return and while I was waiting I mentioned to her that I had purchased Bananas there the week before. THe bananas were green and never ripened.

WHen she was finished with my return i looked at the receipt and without even mentioning it, she had refunded my $ on the bananas!! I did not have the bananas or the receipt with me!!!!!!!! NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

This is all great news.

I bought a Gameboy SP...hoping to give it to DS for Christmas. Of course he changed his Santa list, so the Gameboy is still in the attic - in original packaging, special with a game, case, etc. Sold exclusively at Costco.

I cannot find the reciept anywhere - I have looked all over.

I sure hope I can return it. I would be happy with a store credit to buy things that we really need for $100+.

Thanks for the info.

Now there may be a problem with returning a game boy. If the price has gone down and you don't have the receipt they will give you a refund of the lower price EXCEPT if you are using a Costco CC. If you did charge on a Costco Amex and can tell them approx when you bought the game boy they will look it up and give you full credit. I have a similar situation. I bought a rave MP3 player and even though I only used it a couple of times when I return it I will only get the current price of $80 not the $100 I paid for it. Why?? Because even though I have the Costco CC I have absolutely NO idea of when I bought it. We buy so much there it would be crazy to have them look at all our receipts to find one. NOw that I am thinking about it I seems to me it might have been Sept or October 2004. Hey, I'm getting better. The Fog has lifted. Thanks to the OP! I remember now.

The Gameboy was purchased in mid December.
Also, they still carry them, and are still listed for the same price we paid.

Actually I would love to keep it and give it to DS, however I have 3 boys and do not want to buy a Gameboy for each of them. It would be considered a special gift, and there are no birthdays coming up.

Plus, they are thinking about asking Santa for the Gameboy DS for Christmas this year.

I just am mad at myself for not getting the reciept from DH when he purchased it per my instructions. Also, mad at myself for not returning it in a more timely manner.

If you decide you want to return it you can. In the scenerio you just told us about you will have no problem returning it to Costco. I was only worried in case, as in most electronics, the price had gone down. I wouldnt wait though because it will come down. Return it now and buy it when you need it at a (probably) lower price.

I have 2 Costcos within 15 minutes driving distance as well as 4 BJs, 2 of which sell gas. I love living so close to everything.

I love costco!!!

Several years ago we bought a computer there and after about 5 months the monitor started acting up. I called the computer company's number and was informed that there was a charge, per minute, for tech support. So I hung up. Later that week, I happened to be in Costco so I decided to ask if they had a different number for the computer company. They said don't worry about it, just bring it in and we will replace it. I did not have a receipt or the packaging. When I returned with the monitor, they realized, that model was only available as a package. So, they took my broken monitor and replaced it with a slightly better model. :cheer2: :cheer2: What a deal!!! Costco Rocks :cool1: :cool1:

Unfortunately for me, we moved and now we do not have a Costco.

In February I bought a snow shovel at Costco. Once I got home, I realized the metal edge on the shovel wouldn't be good for my concrete driveway. I just got around to returning the shovel to Costco yesterday. I didn't have the receipt, so they gave me store credit.
