Can regular tickets be used for annual pass renewal?

Looking for a bit of help and information about the possibility to renew an annual pass. My son's annual pass expired and we will be going back before the 30 day grace period for renewal. My main question is can I use park hopper tickets to upgrade and renew or just upgrade to an annual pass? Knowing this information now will help me figure out what to do before we get there.

I ended up with these tickets because we are going for a short free dining trip and had to buy the park hopper tickets as part of the pkg (ran out of DVC points). I know I can upgrade them to an annual pass but I'm hoping we can use them towards a renewal. That sounds too good to be true so I assume we won't be able to?

I just learned a couple of weeks ago that you can use a ticker towards the renewal.

Yes you can use 1 ticket you have towards the AP renewal (you mentioned tickets plural, but you can only use 1 to renew 1 AP). To ensure you get the most value for it, use the ticket to enter a park then upgrade.

Also make sure that renewing now really makes sense. If your son is not going to use the AP for a few months or more, it may be more cost effective to buy a new pass at the time he needs it (and you can still use the ticket as described above).

Thanks, that's great news! Yeah, we have multiple tickets since we each had to get one but we will save those for my husband and I when ours run out.

Unfortunately, with the new annual passes we will probably end up going only once a year and we had been 2-3 times. My son starts school so we will have to start going over Easter and I don't want to upgrade to Platinum. This will probably be our last annual pass since we'll go one more time next summer before it runs out.
