I am not a DVC member, but have been looking to rent points for our next trip. What I am not sure about it, can we book a package, or will it be a "room only" reservation. Also, if we can book a package, does that mean we can add the dining plan? I have heard mixed reviews about this and thought there had to be some experts out there who could answer this. THANK YOU!

If you rent points from a DVC member, you are renting their membership in Disney's version of a timeshare...this is booked completely separate from the rooms/villas you can book through CRO, the points used to book rooms/villas are in a totally separate inventory booked through Disney Vacation Club. Therefore, as just answered ...No packages. You'd need to book through CRO for that. Also, it will cost dramatically less to rent points for your stay but you will be subject to a different set up in your stay such as - No daily housekeeping...we get Trash and Towel service and full cleanings only every so many days depending on length of stay.

Just some things to be aware of if you go the renting points route ;)

thank you so much for answering my question! if i go by $10 a point and compare it to the advertised nightly rate, i will be saving quite a bit renting the points. however, i just wonder by the time i add the tickets, how much am i actually saving. we are planning to travel during "value" season (jan. 06). i just wonder if they would offer a special or a "code". i don't know if these things ever apply to the dvc properties. anyone out there know?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "offer a special or a code", but generally speaking - there are never any special deals for room rates in DVC. Then amount of points you need is always the same as published in the member's guide for the year. Sometimes, but not always, DVC members are offered discounts on other Disney stuff, like dining, or purchase at Disney stores and eateries, but these would not be available to you as a renter of a DVC member's points.

That is sometimes one of the drawbacks of being a DVC member - retail customers often get "specials" and "codes" that allow you to take advantage of some really great deals on Disney resort stays, tickets, and merchandise.

As a result, my wife and I probably spend as much as retail customers each year as we have invested in DVC!

I think she is asking if CRO ever offers discounts/codes on DVC rooms - .

If so, the answer is yes, sometimes. However, they do tend to be limited and you can't count on getting one when you want to go. Of course that's true for all the discounts, LOL.

If you book a DVC room through CRO (for cash), you can turn it into a package that includes tickets and dining if you so choose.

FWIW, in most cases, you will be better off renting points and buying tickets and food separately. Packages are not generally less expensive than booking things yourself. You pay for the convenience factor.

Best wishes -
